Step 8 · Final Inspection and Testing
With the repair fully assembled, perform a thorough visual inspection of the couplings to ensure they are seated correctly and the bands are straight. Once you are satisfied, it's time to test the repair. Go to an upstairs fixture, like a sink or tub, and run a significant amount of water down the drain. While the water is running, carefully inspect the new joints for any drips or leaks. Use a dry paper towel and wipe it around each seal to reveal even the smallest amount of moisture. If no leaks are present, the repair is complete. You can now remove your temporary pipe supports.
