Step 5 · Assemble the Coupling on Pipe Ends
Disassemble the compression coupling. It consists of a central body, two compression nuts, and two brass ferrules (or compression rings). Slide one compression nut onto one of the pipe ends, making sure the threads face outwards, towards the cut. Then, slide a ferrule onto the same pipe end, with its tapered edge pointing towards the cut. Push the nut and ferrule about an inch down the pipe. Repeat this process on the other pipe end.
