Step 2 · Mark the Pipe for Cutting

Precisely identify the location of the leak (it's often a small pinhole with mineral deposits). Measure your compression coupling to determine the length of the pipe section you need to remove. A standard 1/2-inch coupling requires about a 1-inch gap. Using a permanent marker, mark the pipe on both sides of the leak, ensuring the distance between your marks matches the required gap for your coupling. These marks will be your cutting guides.
