Step 3 · Remove the Shower Faucet Trim/Escutcheon

This is the step people usually slow down on. Go finger-tight first, then a quarter turn. No rush — replay the clip whenever it helps.

Carefully remove the escutcheon plate (decorative cover) surrounding the valve. This may involve unscrewing or gently prying it off. Be mindful of not scratching the finish or surrounding surfaces.
