Step 3 · Sand the Deck

After the deck has completely dried from cleaning, sand all accessible surfaces. Start with a coarse-grit sandpaper (e.g., 60-grit) to remove any fuzzies, splinters, or old stain residue. Follow up with a finer grit (e.g., 80-100 grit) for a smooth finish. Pay extra attention to railings and deck edges. Vacuum or sweep away all sanding dust thoroughly.
