Step 4 · Choose Your 'Reveal'

The 'reveal' is the space of exposed wood you leave on either side of your carpet tread. It frames the tread and adds a touch of design elegance. A common reveal is between a half-inch to several inches. For a great DIY-friendly tip, use painter's tape to mark out the tread placement and visualize the reveal before you order.
