What happens here

After the fence is completed, the judges will assess its quality based on several criteria. A 'judging stick' is used to verify adherence to height and spacing specifications for both boards and wire. Critical checks include: post height (e.g., 55 inches for wire fence posts), wire height and spacing (e.g., fixed knot wire with 8 horizontal lines, 42 inches high, and 6-inch vertical spacing), proper tension of all wires (no sagging), and the overall 'fit and finish' of the construction. Flow refers to how well the fence follows the contours of the land. Specific attention is paid to details like the alignment of fixed knots in woven wire, ensuring that all wires are parallel to the ground or follow the ground contour closely, and proper termination of wires with splices and figure-eight knots.

Goal: Evaluate fence quality based on defined criteria
