Who needs a FORESTRY MULCHER! 24hp Brush Cutting monster!

hey there folks this is Josh stoneybridge farmer welcome back to the farm it's hot it's another hot day here in June in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in North Carolina and it's mowing season so a lot of videos coming up here in the next few weeks will be all about mowing and property maintenance so we've got a lot of property maintenance to do here on our 150 acre farm and today we're going to be putting the honey badger to work so the honey badger is our ventrac 4500 ly it's a diesel unit we'll talk a little bit more about that we'll talk about the tough cut deck which is a rough cut deck that we're going to be using today and we'll talk about this area which was cleared by a forestry mulcher three yeah three years ago so come along today as we show you what a place looks like that's been cleared by forestry mulcher three years ago and we'll talk to you about this little tractor and how a 24 horsepower tractor can do the job of a skid steer it kicks butt let's have some fun all right whoa ain't afraid of word I ain't afraid of please ain't afraid to get a job done and we ain't afraid alive times like this mess of my freedom my teeth as well as you can see we're going to talk about the honey badger and a honey badger is our ventrac tractor this tractor is at twenty four point eight horsepower has a Kubota diesel engine on it the tractor itself is engineered and manufactured in the USA in Orrville Ohio we've been up there to the factory we've toured the factory we had a one-year lease on this machine and we decided to go on and buy it after our one-year lease is up because once you have a ventrac you can't do without it you really can't do without it so with our multiple ponds on the property and multiple areas that are really really steep that thing is a beast for mowing it's good for mowing pastures we mowed 85 acres of pastures last year with it we mowed everything on the whole farm this is the most used tractor on the farm this is probably the most indispensable tractor on the farm to so with those eight tires we can get into really steep spots and with the front mowed deck we can actually hang the deck off over an embankment and go and mow down the edges of embankments that we can't drive on I have yet to find a bank that I can't drive up and down or sideways on so it'll mow like sideways like this up to 30 to 45 degrees that's steep 30 45 30 degrees don't go 45 you might roll over so if it will hold it it will mow it that's really the take-home message this thing is probably the dirtiest ventrac in the country too but I use it man we use it all the time so let's go over here we'll show you kind of what we have so we've got some saplings that are coming up in here we've got briars we've got multiply Row we've got all sorts of stump sprouts and you'll see that as we're mowing through here there is some debris this area now across the creek over there you can see it's already been mowed we use the Finnish mower for the ventrac for that so we have two mower attachments a rough cut or it's called the tough cut it's a six foot wide mower we have a Finnish mower which has a striper on it which we mow the yard with sometimes and we get down here in these bigger areas and we mow with it but that Finnish cut more can't handle this rough stuff so if you can push it over with the ventrac you can mow it that that thing is just an awesome machine so you can look through here there's some stumps and some old debris and we're going to hit that debris we are we're gonna hit rocks we're going to hit stumps we're gonna hit sticks and I ain't scared and neither is the honey badger man that thing will go anywhere so this gives you an idea of the brush that we're getting into I'm gonna toss the drone up in the air I'm gonna set the camera out here and we'll just get you some cool footage of this thing at work it's an awesome machine an indispensable machine to have on your farm or a piece of property like this so without further ado let's fire up the honey badger [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] that thing ain't mowing is it we got rained out man I did get the job done so first thing in the morning I'll take you down there and I'll show you what happened this is our front porch by the way if you guys are new to the channel this entire area was either wooded or covered in brush and briars the entire area I'm talking about the front yard everything there was nothing up here when we bought this place there was a road that went about 200 feet up the driveway and the rest of it you need to have a four-wheel drive truck to get up here well the Sun came back out look at that it turned beautiful again so guys this thing did an awesome job so if you'll remember there were weeds up to about right here all the way through here and we got way way back there so we cut I'm going to say about a quarter mile of mess out of here just now I'm with the ventrac it took me somewhere in the neighborhood of an hour maybe an hour ten minutes something like that in the mean time it started pouring down rain I couldn't help myself once you get on one of these ventrac machines if you get a chance to rent one rent one someday you will be absolutely addicted once you get a chance to run one of these you don't want to get off of it until sundown or even after I've mowed three and four hours after dark on that machine so we'll get some cool footage drone footage some before and after cruising by this but man it turned out super awesome let's walk I told you I'd show you the other side of the creek we're gonna walk down here you really can't tell a whole lot of difference the land is a little rougher over here and I hit some big rocks which is not good at all but the other side of the creek looks just about the same this is with the rough cut deck the tough cut on the ventrac and that is with the finish mowed deck so eventually we'll be able to mow this with the finish mode but not with these logs in here so with the tough cut I could run over and whack that log and any wouldn't hurt anything so very very cool guys thanks a lot for joining me today
