Clearing a hidden field you've never seen on our farm! You'll love this!

hey there folks this is Josh stoneybridge farmer welcome back to the farm today is the day we start leg number two of our land clearing project so we're all finished up clearing land over here and I'm gonna give you a little sneak peek right over there we're going to go at the end of the video we're going to look at the new grass it's sprouting up where we just seen it in the last video but right now we're starting another project here on the other side of the farm we're going to cruise over to the other side we'll show you guys what's going on there's a 20 acre ish section and about a 3 to 5 acres section and we're gonna start working on and we're gonna start working on a future pond site so come along today as we show you what's going on with leg number 2 or project number 2 of our land attained as well as you can [Music] [Applause] all right guys this your first time the Stoney Ridge farm channel welcome to the channel and we have Murch so our March just came in covet slowed our because we've been working for like six months to get our hats and shirts we got like four or five different hat designs and three different shirt designs so pretty cool if you want some merch you want to help support the farm support all of what we do here that's one way to do it so what we're doing right now is this area right here is around 20 maybe 22 acres of cutover land now this land is basically similar to the land we just cleared we just cleared a ridge side up I'll throw some drone footage up there of the ridge that we just worked on so that's a 22 acre section of land right there and this again is 20 22 ish acres and across we're going to walk over here just a little ways across the little branch there's a little branch we call it a branch it's a creek that runs right through here probably runs about 3 or 4 gallons per minute so not a lot of water flow but there's another field over here on the other side and that's somewhere to three maybe five acres I don't know and it's kind of sad that I don't know it but it goes way back in here and we cut all the trees on this property and again this has been a planned deal so we have some planted Pines that we put in here just in case we decided not to clear it in case we went broke trying to do this we'd always have the pines to fall back on and what we're doing right now is kind of the same as what we did before so when we start a land clearing project like this we cut a perimeter basically a trail and this trail is about three buckets wide for the caterpillar loader we're kind of trail all the way around this entire area it's huge I'm going to get the drone I'll toss it up in the air and you'll get some cool footage and we'll also kind of provide you footage as we work so Frank my loader operator he will be out here for the next at least five maybe six days working this area over right here now he's come back in like September and we're gonna start working these are huge oak trees by the way beautiful huge oak tree is probably 60 feet high we're looking at a pond site potential pond site right down in here so that'll be cool we'll have a water source over here on this side of the farm for our cows now so you guys know as we're working over here it's been raining so we planted new grass seed last week and we'll take you over there we'll show you the results at the end of this video of the new grass seed and will also get you kind of a drone shot of the entire farm so we are on the far north east northeast section of our farm where we're on about 150 acres here this little area down here it's swampy all the areas down the lowland is really really swampy so we've got to be careful in there let's toss the drone up and get you some footage and talk you through what we're doing [Music] [Applause] all right guys would you think of that drone footage pretty awesome huh so Frank's over here getting things done and what I told to do again is like three or four bucket whips right here but to plan for clearing the whole field so if they got over in here and he cleaned a little bit up it's not going to hurt my feelings at all I'm not sure if we're gonna have him clean this up now or in the fall my prediction is he'll probably get about three-quarters of this done and the other side which you saw is fly over he'll get that done and then we'll come back in the fall and revisit this when we no grass seed is going to take but I can't plan for this if I can't see it and something you need to know about the area we live I can't walk through there I cannot walk through there because there are ticks and chiggers and all sorts of biting and stinging bugs so no matter how much I wrap up I'm gonna be wrapped up in ticks I don't want to get I don't want to get tick borne illness if I can help it so this is the property line right here and you can see trees trees from the neighbor's property are leaning over here onto my place so that's gonna pose a problem at some point when it comes to building our fence we may have a tree issue right here with trees falling down I guess really I should pray for a really rough winter so that all these weak trees that are right here will go on and fall down before we build our fence but we'll see how that goes again this is our property line I'll take you up there and I'll show you a tree that marks the property line there are three chops in the tree and that is how you know you're right on a property line so there are three chops in this tree right here that denotes property lines this tree is on the property line right here pretty cool and I have all this stuff flagged because we cut timber here three years ago that's what all this is stumps but these stumps didn't grow back as fast as the stumps over on the other side of the hill that's why you don't see all the brush cool [Music] that's is what's going on here today on the farm big land clearing projects eventually we're going to run out of land clearing project so I hope you guys are enjoying this what Frank's doing is pushing all this stuff all this debris and you can see kind of a wall of debris he's just going in and pushing and pushing and pushing and eventually will work that debris over here to a burn pile or over here and build a big firm pretty cool stuff got a lot of work to do guys thanks a lot for joining me if you have any questions post ways opposed to me stone Tyrion [Music] alright guys this is the area we were working so hard to get grassy down on the other day after that we had three days of gentle rain and then one torrential downpour we got about two inches in probably an hour and that costs some little washing spots but nothing bad and you can see a little bit of a green haze across here so over the next week I anticipate this green haze to be entirely green anywhere it washed out just a little bit will recede and we'll fix that all up and we're gonna run the seed drill overtop the woods precision super cedar will go over top of this land in September once we clean that off we'll go back through and we'll drill all this back down again and hit it heavy with some grass seed awesome
