okay so you get the port versus the Dodge looking at them side by each it's you're leaning toward the floor you're leaning toward the Dodge this is a nice truck [Music] we buy Ford or Dodge let's go compare and contrast these trucks today's would await me - all right you guys it's head-to-head Ford vs. Dodge in the half-ton work truck category to the point where I go to the Dodge dealer and I grab their half-ton work truck and I Drive it to the Ford dealer and I put them side by each okay like it okay so you get the Ford versus the Dodge in the parking lot and compare and contrast models and features and then we show you some of the unique features of both trucks and at the end of the video we're gonna end up buying one of these trucks now you won't see Chevy and you won't see GMC in here but we tried we literally the night before went down to the Chevy dealer and I said I'm gonna buy a truck I just need to know what the price is so that I can compare and contrast features to make sure that I'm getting the right vehicle and the guy looks at me says well you know the easiest way to do is just look it up online and like no that's not the easiest way for me to do it I actually need it on a piece of paper so I can set them side-by-side cuz I'm a little bit old-school I'd like to look at one look at the other look at the other and make sure I'm getting everything comparable he's like well just look it up online he literally would not print out the document and he wouldn't give me the pricing he would not give me the pricing he's like well you can find the pricing online and we could probably do a little bit better all right whatever I just gave up on so you're not gonna see Chevy in today's but you are gonna see a very thorough analysis of Ford and Dodge side-by-side and you're also going to catch a glimpse of us buying our second heavy-duty work truck because Tim started to get truck Envy when I bought my first Dodge and you're gonna find out if he decides to pull the trigger and pick up a second Dodge HD these are half ton trucks today's okay all right let's just a lot of trucks let's just get him today's video so since Nikki's been going with me to work we're gonna get her a work truck that we're gonna share right so you're gonna be driving your first pickup truck [Laughter] all right we looked at forward we looked at Chevy drove both yesterday so this is a ram 1500 because we're not gonna be plowing with it so we don't need some of the same features that we seen on the other one and this one we're gonna be haulin passengers so a couple of things let's pop open the back tailgate I want to show you guys something one of the things about the Dodge is they all come with bed liners all of them we've got lights in the bed now so you've got remote lights so your bed is lit up separately from the rest of it a backup camera which I showed you Tim is right here this one even though it's a 1500 still has the heavy-duty plugs right there your hitch system is there let's go inside one of the things about the back seat on the dodges that I don't know about the Fords but you've got in store floor egde the seats pop forward and they go up oh nice I had no clue and these look like they actually maybe so does that like I can do that with one hand okay so the Ford are aluminum but they were you can still scratch through the paint okay dodge I don't know it if dodges is steel or aluminum but I'd no matter what I would want a bedliner so that is a definite bonus one way shape or form or another now she had a main major concern with this shifter right here and she's that's the shifter that she Park reverse neutral and drive and what we're gonna do is we're gonna go down the road and we're going to throw it in reverse while we're driving forward so with the Dodge at least in this particular unit this is all storage so you got multiple storage levels here so you've got here then you got deep storage down there then you got a phone this is a built in phone folder so you can take your phone and plop it just like that then you got cigarette lighter and got your inverter here Lord had that port had that you got your controls for your heated seats are right here this is your control plant panel this is this is a much this is probably the nicest layout screen biggest screen that I've seen in any of them plus you've got the bump storage here plus flip down storage down there then you've got multiple cupholders in the door extra storage here two cupholders up here plus then you've got an entire control panel back here then you've got your different layouts for your garage door opener so if you've got multiple garage doors you got it right there yeah we don't have one of those and this is your weird window so you get a power rear window you have never driven us this is going to be your first test drive in this truck and you're already a Ford fan so we'll see what you think this isn't like before it all had with it this is now this is a 5.7 liter Ford is a 2.7 liter but it's turbo which gives you about equal power as the 5.7 that's what they say don't know if it's true the review said Frankie write them all that suits me four-wheel drive on this truck as right into right now hurry up hit for auto would it be it to and they go too far up yup good hit it be driving so it'll shift on the fly the only thing is here in four-wheel drive thing is you can't go into floorball who know me to guess that there is love okay so one of the big scary things that my wife did not like was mistaken this shifter for the radio and so we're gonna drive and we're gonna shift it this is ice we're gonna actually shift it into reverse while we're driving forward so let's just slow down and pretend like you missed your button and because we don't want to totally kill ourselves if this happens good just throw it in reverse go ahead just throw out and reverse boom vehicle speed is too high to shift to our insides okay so it's automatic so let's stop don't do it don't touch nothing else now now go ahead and throttle it up so it does it automatically for you yep so you can you can track it by screwing it up do you want to try going down the road and throwing it in park let's see what it does let's do it so we'll go down this stretch here and we'll throw it in park while we're driving down the road I mean we Dodge I mean now that I've been driving mine I just like it I don't know I think I like it cause it's got a little bit of the new school technology and old school just old some old school things about it that I just really appreciate but this this truck is not gonna be just for me this is our shared truck so I got my truck I need you to figure out which one you want I said to her let's drive this right to the Ford dealer and compare and contrast so we're gonna be looking directly head-to-head the board versus the Dodge at this point brand new trucks never driven not even owned all right guys we're a brand new Dodge or at the Ford dealer okay we're gonna see which one she wants to buy between the Ford and the Dodge because we're splitting this drunk and I'm not its Dodge I like Dodge but no I've had plenty of Fords and they're great trucks I've never had an f-150 though I meant I've never had an f-150 so that's a it's that new experience for me let's go let's go compare and contrast these trucks today's will be waiting for Jean but brush my teeth and I don't have socks how does that matter I guess when you're buying a truck you better brush your teeth and have socks on let's look can do the five Cedars which I have the seventh Council with the inverter in the back and then you have your shifter in the center we look at the best you've got you central camera here and then you've got these in the back four sensors in the back the Dodge has the central camera in the middle as well and then four sensors in the back as well now this one has the plug-in and the hitch are we the same over here exactly the same so the 2.7 liter is equal in power available power is a 5.7 on a Dodge approximately I don't know I have to look it up to see for sure okay so here's your light switch so you got a light switch in the back on this one now these don't come with the bedliner aluminum body all aluminum body on the Ford except for the bumpers are steel and the frame if you were comparing this one with like how it's all blacked out yep on an f-150 to black it all out this one has the chrome appearance package yeah whereas if you got the sport appearance package the color of the paint would be the same as the bumpers and the handles and the front rolling back down okay so this one's got the chrome versus the sport okay so running boards but we're lower I mean you don't technically need lower truck and that one if if we were to go to an f-150 with the center console like that not a seat and not a seat you would get the the heat back there is that the same price Tabitha um it's approximately about the same price yes it's not any like it's not thousands of dollars difference okay so that would be something for her to consider if she wants the seat or the center console right okay so here's the center console and here's the seat now this seat one of the things I don't like gotta hit this button to flip the seat down which isn't the end of the world guys but I frickin it's not a one-handed thing so you got central storage here two cupholders flip that up you got more storage underneath this will flip backwards Tabitha do you have one that has in size comparison to the Dodge to me it feels small it feels smaller to you yeah it might not be okay so I'm gonna lay a little bomb on you when they're side by each the board is a bigger truck so we're gonna go down a bumpy road and see what you think about it Tim and I just took the Dodge through what we call the gauntlet in Woodbury which is the it's like basically I come Michigan Road this one's not gonna be as bad this road but it's you know here we go definitely a bumpy road but I looked him up last night and that the RAM has a smoother Drive on the bumpy roads than the Ford according to them like it's got one more star than before okay but also for it exceeds other areas like safety I like the feel of my dodge and I like the feel of the Ford the RAM looks nicer but the form feels safer I like both I like both I'm not overly HEPT about buying three Dodge pickup trucks when I've never had a Dodge pickup truck before this year now all of a sudden I buy three and what if I hate him in a year or two years or three years then I'm stuck with you know Mike we brought the truck over to port to look at for its I don't think they like this locates the you're leaning toward the Ford you're leaning toward the duck from driving a four I like Graham right now but it's scheduling more stuff in its and therefore it goes well it's not all the options just the tribes better took it in a boards on it all right let's look inside absolutely okay so it's actually black on black so two USB ports there's your vents for the kids yeah don't call you when your plates come in no cup holders on the doors for the kids this have a remote start so that's right here and then you can also remote start it from your phone so you we have to download the fordpass app get you registered and then you will be able to pull up the app and you can look at vehicle location so when it's parked you can unlock it and lock it you could be in China and start it in States so let's start it up here [Applause] okay so this truck also has a shutter system and that's for fuel economy you guys are gonna have a little bit of a hard time seeing that but the shutter system is right down in here these are shutters that as the truck heats up will open up and as the truck cools down the flows down and that's to keep the temperature of the optimum so that you basically are optimizing your fuel economy but if they ever would fail they'll fail open instead of failing closed that way your truck will at least run cooler instead of overheating I think it's kind of gimmicky myself but I mean I think it's a little bit gimmicky because I mean over I've had trucks overheat left and right I haven't ever had them not want to run because they're too cold the truck engine will typically it's actually better for a truck engine to run a little bit cooler than it is obviously to run a little bit hotter so the fact that they put that on there the Ford engineers probably know something I don't know but if it ever becomes a problem take a look at that otherwise I really like the layout of this engine it's not like it's poured in here just like I said about other ones this is an 8 cylinder a lot of room inside this engine and very simple layout everything is easy to see easy to layout I'm just the puller coated so guys can look at it I pop it open and see the vital components of the engine pretty quick so I like what I see so far one of the things that I had happen with my my red port I can't remember was the old I know or the old boy thing was o9 for diesel where's my air intake would love up with snow so this as I was plowing snow the snow would kick in there and I literally had to carry a second filter inside the cab and every few hours I would have to take the filter out put it into the cab thaw one filter out and put the second filter in so that I could keep working and the air intake what I ended up doing was modifying it on my truck so that instead of it sucking toward the front I actually moved the air intake box toward the back so it would suck hot air off from the engine into it otherwise I couldn't run during the winter now this one is coming in right dead front center so if that becomes a problem you guys are gonna know about it here it is you guys that's the one we decided to go with the wife felt more comfortable with the Ford I've had great history with the Ford gassers I
