WHERE TO GET GREAT GARDEN COMPOST.........COULD BE RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER! SEE WHAT I FOUND!

whoo [Music] we get ready to go on a road trip to the landfill these guys announce we are headed to our local landfill going on a little road trip we've got dawn the right guys big old dump trailer back here behind us and I'm about to run out on my gravel road that wouldn't be cool I'm going to take the dump trailer to the landfill where they have compost okay there's a huge compost site out at the Greensboro North Carolina landfill check your local landfill you may have a compost site that you don't know about when this stuff works miracles on your lawn and can work miracles on your garden too so come along with me we're going to go have some fun so you guys might think it's a little strange for me to be headed to the landfill to get compost but our landfill locally here has a huge composting site where they have this little machine that rides over the compost and turns it and rotates it basically all the yard debris and all the brush and stuff that contractors bring into the landfill gets ground up into mulch and turns eventually into black gold black gold compost basically it's awesome awesome stuff it makes my tomatoes grow awesome awesome and there's a trashcan in the road right here I really shouldn't be filming while I'm driving but it is the way of the vlogger and that's okay so I believe in recycling I believe in reusing I believe in not wasting and using this yard waste for compost here on my garden and here on my farm to help with fair spots of a up with spots with less nutrient in the soil it's just a great idea I think it's a good thing to help the environment by not just wasting this biomass we're going to use it on the farm we're going to go in the landfill going to show you what the land feels like where the compost Center is I'm going to show you the big machine that turns the compost and show you all that stuff and then I'm going to show you where we dump it here on the farm I also want to give you a little teaser to the next video we've got a timber crew working on the farm right now and the timber crew is starting to cut some trees now we want our place to look like Central Park basically we want to be a beautiful park-like setting in order to do that we're going to have to harvest some trees replant other trees and just basically rearrange the tree situation on the farm but we're going to save some big monsters so come along with me today we'll show you what's going on on the farm just getting a little compost and getting prepared for good summers the work here the guys I'm gonna ask you a favor this is your first is something that I think is special so click the like button for me now guys I think we're at the landfill and we're going to pull onto the scale here I'll show you how that works that way you in and we'll go out we'll get our compost and we'll weigh back out pulling onto the scale here and the scale tells us basically our weight so we've gone through the scale and we're headed out to load up this is the gigantic mountain of compost guys okay we're out of the truck here where you got the rake and this guy's going to load us up with compost got a big old scooper right here we don't want to be downwind of this stuff that awesome rich dirt it's going to make that garden pop so guys this is what I wanted to show you and this is the point I want to make here today is that your city may have a compost site like this that you don't know about so call your local city call the cities around you and see if they have a compost site like this it will make your garden absolutely explode back here is a mountain of compost that's getting ready to be processed and then back here we have row after row after row of compost in this big machine that is sitting over here you really can't see it it's kind of right here it goes through and turns the compost probably once a month once every two months depending on the time of year it rotates that compost which is what it needs to get the bacteria going again basically compost is just bacteria breaking down organic matter and turning it into gold for your garden so I want to take you out and show you this guy's pretty cool all right we're going to go ahead and pull back through the scale here see how much we weight actually twenty thousand pounds so guys we got four point five eight tons on this load and 5.08 tons on the last load so ten tons of compost picked up today and the total cost was about one hundred and ninety three dollars that'll be enough compost for us for quite some time basically what I'm trying to do is spot file some compost so when I need it I have it so what I've done in the past when our family garden starts getting weeds in it I throw this compost on it the compost is hot enough that when it hits the weeds it kills the weeds and I don't spread it right up on to my tomato plants or any of that stuff so the tomato plants survive and the weeds go away pretty good thing we get home we'll dump the compost and I'll show you what a good handful of it looks like awesome awesome black gold so we just got back to the house and I'm going to show you how the dump trailer works pretty cool it's got a little cabinet right here and inside the cabinet is a controller and just as up and down and basically I just hit the UP button and up she goes let's just say this guy's I'm tired of my chicken crowing it won't shut up I've got two roosters that just won't shut up somebody's going in the dinner pan soon [Music] a little piece of advice guys if you're thinking about getting one of these trailers know that when you dump and you have a lot of weight in your trailer there is a chance that it could tip one way or the other so you want to continually mash the button and let it go all the way up and dump it that way you don't tip the trailer over another thing you want to think of is that you have to dump and move you can't just dump your load and then and then pull away and it's done you have to dump and then drag your trailer and sometimes dirt and stuff likes to stick in it as in the case that we have right here [Music] [Applause] so one final thing I want to show you what we have here this is awesome stuff okay check this stuff out awesome awesome delicious compost okay great for our garden can't wait to use it can't wait to do some potted plants and stuff like that that's what today
