What happens here
This video documents a severe pond overflow and subsequent dam erosion caused by heavy rainfall. The presenter assesses the extent of the flooding and erosion, highlights the risks to the dam and fish stock, and discusses the immediate need to redesign the spillway and reinforce the dam to prevent future damage. While the user prompt mentions 'Pond Liner Repair', the video specifically focuses on earth dam integrity and erosion control, not the repair of synthetic pond liners.

(6,729 characters)we got another flood [Music] woo hey guys this Josh Stony Ridge farmer we have a big issue going on here on the farm today the pond is flooding the pond is overflowing the dam I'm going to take you over there show you what's going on if there's something on the pipe we'll get it off the pipe if not we're just going to have to watch it and hope and pray that our pond doesn't wash away so come along with today on the sty Ridge Farm we'll show you what's going on the pond is overflowing and I don't know what the heck we're going to do about it so let's check it out all right please excuse the crappy camera work today this is a big problem I've got to get up here and address it but I did want to share it with you I want to take you up here and show you what's going on unbelievable amount of water has fallen and uh I'll show you where it's running over it's running over in several spots which I never ever thought it would do so right here's the pond and we're overflowing right here it's running down the hill and our pond water level is just right at the edge of where it should be unbelievable we've had a ton of rain come through here and this thing is up at least 2 and 1 half maybe 3 ft we're going to go over to the pipe and let's check that out serious serious problem here guys this is where it's running over and the problem is that this amount of water can wash away my dam okay this is a huge amount of water coming out of this Pond right here and there's really nothing I can do about it it doesn't appear to be anything on the pipe uh we walk across here so down here is the stand pipe and the stand pipe is just gushing water this this just can't keep up it's just too much water coming down through here guys so I I don't know what to do whether just watch it and see what happens and you know I I need you guys to really think about me in the next day or so here hopefully this Pond won't uh wash away it be a real bummer got some more footage right here just how much water is coming through unbelievable amount of water here I'm standing and it it's probably 4 in deep coming across the dam crazy crazy when I first saw this I thought for sure something was stuck on my pipe out here I've actually got two pipes I've got one pipe which is the old pipe built back in 1961 when the pond was built and I have a new pipe put in that's down here I just showed you that in the video and it's just gushing water the pond just can't keep up guys there's just so much water funneling into this thing thing guys I just really need your thoughts and prayers that this doesn't wash away our pond dam and and make a lot of work for us and wash our fish out of the pond because we've got some huge bass in here it's just a great place to be a good place to spend time and a great place to irrigate our farm too this is a bummer this is a tragedy so right here I'm standing right here in what is the dam the low spot in the dam happens to be right here where our pipe is and this is a problem okay guys if the lower part in the dam was way over here which we'll walk over there and I'll show you in a second but if the low part of the dam was over there it would slowly Cascade in a in a flat area right here it's just like a gully running through here and it's already washed away at least 3 ft of the soil the good thing is I put rocks down in where the water is running back I guess six or eight months ago I put them in there just in case we got this kind of problem and guys we got the problem again I'm going to take you over and I'm going to show you where I think the Overflow should be and we need to put more dirt right here so that this doesn't happen again like I said we've washed away it looks like a good 8 ft of soil from our dam the power of water something we really have to think about on a farm is just the power and strength of water water can destroy anything you have it can take away our pond here it can take away our Fields cause erosion guys controlling water on a farm is super duper important we've got to figure out a solution for this problem so that it doesn't happen again I'm kind of frustrated right now let me take you over here and show you where the actual Spillway should be for overflow it makes more sense so right here is where the spillway should be guys there should be a slow cascading of water over a spot that's more permanent the dam is this way and there is no Dam back this way so the issue is the spillway for overflow should be here if if it was right there I would not be worried but I'm very very concerned that all the money we put in this Pond is going to go right down the hill so guys right now I'm standing at the limit of my boots this is how far I can go in with my boots and I'm not even to where the old Shoreline was this is very disappointing very concerning but there's not any thing in the world that I can do about it besides maybe go rent a huge pump and pump water out I think in about an hour if it doesn't pour down rain anymore this water will subside and everything's going to be okay we've lost about 6 fet of our dam maybe 8 ft now in the next few weeks we've got to rethink our pond dam we've got to put some more dirt on that thing to keep it from washing away and hopefully get the Overflow up here where it should be as long as we don't get any more torrential downpours we should be just fine but I wanted to take you guys along on the Vlog today and show you what's going on on the farm in a big rainstorm here in North Carolina it's been raining for two days and we've got one more day of rain expected so I expect this Pond to continue to overflow hopefully cross my fingers everything's okay you guys say a prayer for me I I really hope everything holds up fine it's a real bummer but it's the way it goes sometimes so guys thanks for coming along with me on the Vlog today wanted to show you a little bit about what's going on on the farm with this huge
