What happens here

This video emphasizes the importance of having a single, dedicated spokesperson when managing a crew or team interacting with customers. The speaker argues that multiple points of contact can lead to confusion, mixed messages, and potentially damage the company's reputation and profitability. He uses an example of differing material costs between job sites to illustrate how misinformation from a well-intentioned laborer could negatively impact customer perception and financial outcomes.

too many cooks spoil the soup what am I talking about today I want to make sure that when you have a crew out operating you have a dedicated spokesperson I received the phone call today that uh from one of my job leads that the laborers were out talking to the customers now even with the very best of intentions you do not want this happening I'm not trying to belittle laborers but I'm trying to get it across to you that when you have too many messages coming from various sources it can confuse your customer a laborer even with the very best of intentions may not be representing your company when he or she is speaking to your customers you need to specifically assign that task to one person and one person only and then you need to back that up let that person know that they are the mouthpiece for your organization when no one else is around and then let the customers know who to reach out to specifically point out if you have questions comments or concerns you can reach me directly or you can reach so and so on the jobsite they are your project Foreman you're very clear on that direction and that allows the customer to know who their point of reference is it keeps confusion down to a minimum and why am I telling you this well let's use an example let's say that you are out working on a job and you're getting top soil for free imported to a site of the laborers out there he knows a top soil is coming in from next to nothing um the customer may know that this top soil is free but now you go to a different job site you can't use that same top soil you need to have a better quality material now you're paying a premium price for the better quality of material the labor that is on this job site was on the previous one may not know that things have changed he may be assuming that the top soil is free once again the problem then arises if that laborer starts talking to the customer even with the best of intentions and tells the customer yeah this dirt's coming in for free when that so can you see how that would absolutely screw up your relationship with the customer they're paying a premium price for top soil your laborer is out there telling them no we're getting this top soil for free the messages are mixed and it doesn't look good to you the owner that's why you want to be very clear very specific whose job it is to speak with the customer your laborers are supposed to know that your customer needs to know who they talk to on your job site messages lines of communication are clear here and to the point so that's your takeaway for today it's a small subject but it can have a big impact on your company and I want to make sure that you dot your eyes you cross your tees and you put the absolute most money in your back pocket at the end of the year all these little tips and tricks they're tested I've lived through them I'm sharing them with you I love you guys go out and rock and roll my friends
