What happens here
With the main cut complete, use a utility knife to score heavily along the remaining perpendicular marked line that defines the short edge of the notch. After scoring, use a pair of flooring snips or strong pliers to carefully grip and snap off the small, waste piece of material. The scored line should help guide a clean break, completing the notch.
