Alex had a boo boo on the way into work and this is what the truck looks like. He don't want to talk. Alex don't want to talk. You a little spitting mad. Is that what you're saying, Alex? So, we're starting the the first year pretty good, huh? We haven't start plowing yet. Yeah. Last year we lost the engine the first day of the snowfall. This year we jack knifed. Just coming up here. And you got good tires on, too. No, these tires. What? Yeah, they're not good in the ice. I mean, what are these? Why do we have these? Cuz we got a really good deal on them. But these are like a Those are more of a mud tire. Yeah. You got to get rid of them. Yeah. On ice. Not very good. But I was pulling up to a stop sign and I mean, I was going extremely slow. I mean, seriously, this was like a 45se second crash, you know? It wasn't like it just happened quick. I mean, I was sliding on the ice and then I'm watching in the mirror of the trailer coming and coming and coming and then it crinkled in and I mean crinkled the truck, crinkled the trailer. Whole combination was sliding and at that point there was nothing I could do. I let go of the brakes and just see if I could get it to stop sliding into it, but it wouldn't do that. So then I tried to reapply the brake because I was sliding into traffic and of course there was cars coming. So, I I had to, you know, I was trying to pinch the trailer brakes, trying to hit the brakes, but I mean, seriously, the whole thing was just sliding all together. And then right as I got up to the stop sign, it crinkled right in. And yeah, the roads are super super bad. First snow of the year. There's this layer of ice underneath here. They closed Wetworth Avenue down. Yeah, that was so bad. They closed it down down down like it's they don't they're not even allowing but it's not gonna affect your plowing but we got to get you some better tires. That's that's goes without saying no more hauling with those crappy tires. Yeah. What are these again? Good. These are the Durat tracks. Goodyear durat tracks. They're probably fantastic in the mud. Mud probably really chew through some stuff in the mud. But as for like ice, I think nope ton big fat of grip there and it's not biting and sliding. Keith, Tim heard about the accident. Soon as Tim heard what happened to the truck, trailer, and Alex and the accident, he was out on the site. But we'll find out more from him in a minute. We got some snow to move. Well, not much snow, but we got something to move. So, let's get on it. So, you're probably wondering why we're plowing snow when there really is no snow to be plowed. Well, we have a lot of zero tolerance accounts. And what a zero tolerance account means is we are not allowed to have any snow or ice accumulate on the lot at all. And to save salt, we plow. It's cheaper and easier to plow a lot than try to cook off a/2 in to an inch of ice with salt. So the first thing you do is you plow it, you scrape it, you get the main stuff gone, and then you come through with your salt and you apply that. And then that means you can use the least amount of salt possible. Heat up Besides being zero tolerance account, we also have very strict areas that we're allowed to pile snow. If we get outside of the area where we're supposed to be piling snow, it means we've got to come back another night and move that off. So, you'll see us putting the snow past logical places where to store it because it's got to go to a dedicated snow pow pile stock zone. So stands out here already over there somewhere. We're going to get this bag girl all fired up and then go start working over at the coffee shop, I think. And then everybody else should be here uh very shortly. And yeah, we just going to get it done. I left my caffeine sitting in the truck. Damn it. We turn that off. Don't get to see that bit. H. No glow plugs. Right on. So, one of the things we have to do on our lots is push our piles into select areas. We can't just push them anywhere over any curb. In fact, a lot of these curbs have to be maintained year round and exposed. All of this has to be done that way. So, it makes for uh longer pushes into dedicated areas, but it is what it is. What we do is we pull everything away from the area that's from the point furthest from it and then push everything down and then start to pull all the curves away, all the minor detail work. It's like that rim something was wrong with it, but it's not. It's okay. We got the sledgeium loader. $64,000 brand new in the box. Uh, it's got good lights. Definitely got good lights. Can't complain about the lights on it. You know, $3 LED lights go a long way, but we don't have a lot of snow here. I think this is more knocking the cobwebs out of the equipment and the operators, right? Just kind of getting us reused to the patterns and what have you. I love plowing in a a loader or a mini loader, especially like the K Cabota R530 over there that Zach's in right now. Um, we're in the SDLG. What is this thing? An SDLG 98. What the heck is this? I forgot. And I can't see what the number is on the side. It's a 74 horsepower loader. It's a one horsepower under under deaf. Um, it runs a DOIs engine, so it's got a good engine in it. I mean, it's a it's got they cheaped out in places. I'm not going to fool you. The windshield wiper, that's got to be the worst windshield wiper in American history. I'm pretty pretty for sure. And I ran some really crappy equipment in my life. And this is that windshield wiper right there that competes with the best of them for the worst. You want to see how it is? See if I can get her to go. Nope. Nope. Come on. Where's Nope. That's the back. Here we go. All right. You know what? It worked. Let's just pray that it continues to work. Sometimes miracles do happen. Yeah, it works. I mean, it works, but it goes off this. They got this weird corners on these windows which the windshield will catch it and then it'll flop over the corner and the next thing you know the windshield's out like a turkey with its head cut off doing whatever the heck it wants to do. Would I ever buy one again? Uh SDLG that's like, you know, as long as service is good, you know, and you're just using it for what it is. It's just a cheap clawing machine that's effective. You know, you want to ride in a new You want to ride in a new loader without breaking the bank? Yeah. I mean, heck, this thing is cheaper than a skid loader. At least when I bought it, it was. And it makes twice as much per hour. And it's way more productive than a skid loader. And the visibility is insane in it. Like, I can see everywhere. It's freaking amazing. Freaking love that visibility for sure. [music] Heat. Heat. right. All right. Tim heard about the accident. He's going to go see it. Just Well, it ain't cutting into the tire, eh? No. Probably should fire me, though. [laughter] Nothing got the frame. It really just looks like the outer edge here. Yeah, nothing got the frame. some body. Yeah, this new bumper and box probably. Yeah, that'll buff out. Knock it a couple. Yep. I'll buy you a new box. I'll Yeah, that can get bent out. But as for a truck, I'll have to buy a new box and and a new thing for you. That's what Yeah, we we we require a new box on an old work truck, Alex. Well, I Well, hey, Alex, guess what, man? You avoided hitting people. That's the important thing. Um, however, it went down. It went down. But you you the the the first first and foremost is not hitting people, right? That's the worst. Or yourself. I mean, or yeah, running into something, but yeah, take care of yourself. But you if you can avoid running into people, I know that's that's what we try to do. But this is Yeah, this sucks. But it is what it is. We got to get him new tires, I think. So, these tires I I don't know. I mean, they're Are they w little? These are wider, aren't they? Well, not I mean, not that much wider. These are supposed to be winter dedicated tires. No, these are mud tires. Tires. Well, I mean, at first earlier with no trailer on, I was thinking, "Oh, they're actually pretty good." But as soon as I hit the brakes, it's like, yeah, I think it was a combination of the way that that trailer stops and these tires. You know, if there was no delay in that trailer, I would have never started sliding, you know. Yeah. Except everybody sliding everywhere with it with or without a trailer. I was going slow as could be, though. You I was creeping like I was I was just creeping. I I' I'd say you still would have slid those crappy tires. I don't think that You think these are crappy? Yeah. I I think they're sipage on them. Not enough cyping. Yeah, not enough cypage on them, but they still got decent tread. Yeah, in the middle. I mean, mine aren't much different. You got the same tire. I got Good Years. Well, yeah. Good Years, too. You just have the I have the Good Years Ultra Terrain. Mine are amazing. I've got zero issues. What you got? The Defenders on. What do I What are these? Defenders. Yeah, I had those the first year. Yeah. You didn't like them? No, these were great. The The other ones LTXs are junk. The LTX once that outside edge wears off, then they they turn into like not that great of a snow tire for me. But these this the first first year I put those on was on with Bla's truck. I remember I was struggling out here and I'm like right before a big storm and you were out of town. I had just gotten them on and I had to go down and pick up a part for a skiddy and I'm just flying. I'm like just going through everything. It was awesome. Like these tires [laughter] kick ass. But uh yeah, it was perfect timing. But they were those were great. Yeah. They don't you know they they last a while too. That's a harder rubber. How long I get out of these? They last They're supposed to go 50 to 80,000 on those. 85,000 miles out of those last Michelins. So, I just got these on here now. What are these? These are Goodyear Ultra Terrain. Ultra Terrain ATS, but those are You're not Ah, I wouldn't want to run on those. I don't know. I mean, that's got the Oh, yeah. It's a little They got it all up the middle. Yeah. Still, I don't think it has enough. I mean, it is kind of a soft rubber, which helps, but I don't think you got enough cyping. I was trying to spin them in here. They didn't spin much. What tires do you guys run and how do you like them? Let me know in the comments down below. Now, I I think an accident can happen whether you got two feet of snow or you got an half an inch of snow. Cuz I really don't think it's that big mound of snow that puts you in the ditch quite as much as it is that little teeny tiny layer of snow that gets between you and your tires. That's when things get slick and out of control. At least that's what took Alex out today cuz we sure didn't get a whole lot of snow in this system. But it was a perfect amount just to knock the cobwebs. The operators, make sure all the equipment's running right. So that the next big event we have, we know all systems are go. All right, but that's it for this one. Unless you happen to want to see more snow plowing action. So if you do, just say, "Show me some more snow or show me some more." I don't care. Just let me know in the comments down below and I'll put up another snowplow video. That's it for this one. God bless. Go get them, you guys. And we will catch you on another
