all right ready yep oh stuff fell out all we have to fix this is duct tape and a razor blade terminator saving the day we're going to the my favorite place harbor freight you're going for one thing you come out with six things we're driving 13 hours from mooresville to a small town in the middle of missouri called moberly to look at this 1989 gooseneck trailer with a bunch of good wrench stuff on it that appears to be a legitimate richard childress racing dale earnhardt show car hauler i don't know how big the back of it is it's got allegedly like a living quarters area in the front so we don't know what fits in there what doesn't what the tires are like nothing install the gooseneck hitch and hit the road so let's see what this thing looks like oh you can see it oh wow that's freaking cool how has nobody like driven by and noticed it i i don't know i mean the guy said he had 300 something messages on facebook marketplace about the thing yeah i guess we were but that's it wow i mean you could tell it's it's old but that's a survivor that's freaking awesome some of you may remember the whole dale earnhardt newell expedition that didn't work out so well but i feel like this is going to be a little different wow you can see it it uses a good wrench racing team and then they covered it up and put service plus over it good safety clean chevy snap-on burger king food city acdelco survived better chickens coca-cola bass pro wow oh yes it's real deal there's yellow paint under it oh that's awesome yeah one of the guys that used to tow this thing around told me i sent a picture of it he's like i'm pretty sure that's it it's in 1989 and childress bought it from the place that did the show cars for david pearson's chattanooga chew so he said if it had yellow paint under it then it was the chattanooga chew one and that's what this is so this was a pearson show car hauler before it was dale earnhardt's oh yeah this is freaking epic it's one of those times where i'm not even sure if the guy who's selling it knows what this is so it's a little crusty it's okay patina the tires actually don't look bad oh you can see the old gm logo too it had a tinier one and they just covered it up it said gm parts and they updated it well i guess let's go in and tell the guy we're here so we can see the inside of this thing and then we'll have to take the tonneau cover off of elvis to get to the gooseneck ball i guess we need to get the key how's it look underneath it's brown but it's not bad so we're gonna have to get him with the forklift to pull it away from this pile so we can get the tonneau cover in the back and then i guess when we get back home we can figure out how to make the the hydraulic jack work because it doesn't for some reason might just beat that battery fuse no no it's going to be a bit of a project you can that's going to make some cool videos so if you want to see how this thing evolves make sure you're subscribed and turn bit of blood down there but as long as it rolls and holds the car and stays in one piece that's it's all yours it's like something easy to like replace yeah trailers are dumb easy if they have good axles and they're like structurally okay then that's all trailer is a box with wheels yeah we can we can tape that down it's okay and it's silver so like duct tape is perfect yes this thing is cool yeah just wanna make sure it looks like the witness marks go this way so yeah nice lube so i guess we need to replace all the locks on this thing first probably yeah [Music] it looks like my grandpa's barn nice and oily and old nice insulation oh i haven't set my hand on the light it's not that tall but i'm tall so are you ready yeah i think if this thing if the escalade did fit in here we might have to brace the floor a little bit yeah it's sketchy it's just some like eighth inch diamond plate anything for holding stock cars they didn't need a whole lot yeah they weren't heavy that's like interesting this is just like plywood it's painted plywood look at it oops yeah someone in the comments is the plywood it's mdf i don't care who cares yes all right ready wow this is pretty it's bigger up here than i thought it was going to be it's neat the breaker ac plugs lights as well that that says bucket a bucket that's the roof leak apparently it does there's ice in it okay well we've got a free boat good to know yeah that's hilarious the old ac delco filter sticker i wonder who put that there i wonder who put the mirror there all right i can't wait to learn more about this thing like if they use it for show cars you know they probably still come in here and comb his mustache and that mirror before he walked out to talk to people it's very possible if they had show cars there for appearances he would probably fly in to be there i mean that might be why there's no windows in here yeah so you just like relax yeah and limo tent on the sliding door baby there's like a whole like big door and stuff it's like these cabinets are pretty solid yeah it's real wood oh that's cool oh that must be extra center cap that's cool is there a sticker up here one has a american-made sportswear small it's really dark in here yeah it is but what's in there wow what the hell there's a bed oh god there is a bed wow that is scary oh no it's like daryl waltrip truck 2.0 this is not as bad as that though no much cleaner more clean more bad bunk beds that's cool i don't know how the hell anybody would sleep there i don't know this little fan and stuff that's cool wow that's like a real classic fan cyclone this thing is extremely interesting it comes with a free screwdriver awesome i can't wait to clean this thing yeah where's the battery wow it's a really old interstate battery oh nine yeah yeah it smells like your grandparents house in there dayton hydraulic power unit that thing's got to just be dead or have a blown fuse or something i bet we can get that to work well let's figure out how to get this thing hooked up can't wait to get back to mooresville and figure out some more history about this the batteries to the left doesn't work we're going to use the forklift to pick it up i think it needs a period correct bully now i was worried about the distance from the trailer cab to the truck cab but because the goose parts offset it's that's fine we're perfect cool i just said that like three seconds before you there we go it's all good this is somebody's homemade cotter pin apparently oh this one's still got the cotter pin we're good well i guess we're almost loaded up we can pull it out of here and see what this rig looks like as a whole when i got this truck four years ago never did i ever think it would pull a trailer that pulled daler and hart's cars around it's just crazy look at this thing look at it's got pinstriping on it i thought these were scratches on the other side but they were down they're better preserved over here it's like a cool design yeah they're a little low yeah so rubber feels good though they're not dried out i was curious if the brake lights and stuff were working okay left is good right is good oh it looked like only one of the the left side worked yeah this one on the end doesn't work at all first impressions as far as how it pulls that's not very heavy not not like the other gooseneck i'm used to pulling it's pretty pretty good time will tell we'll see there's always that period of nervousness whenever you are going to buy something that's listed on you know marketplace craigslist whatever you put a deposit on it but you gotta drive halfway across the country to get there and you never know if the seller is trustworthy enough to actually take your word for it like i was really concerned somebody was gonna see this thing from the road and go in there and have cash in their pocket and be like hey i'll give you this much for right now and the guy would just be like oh we'll screw this dude that made a deposit here you go but you gotta give me props he didn't do that this is just the coolest thing ever we uh stopped with a giant roll king on the side of i-70 get some duct tape hold this together you know just uh just the essentials oh logan's culture gonna leave me here i'm coming all right well here's your parking lot fix because we care yes we care and we don't want this to get snagged on something and fly away so i don't want to use very much because it's going to be hard to get it off good enough that'll do the job good as new this thing's really going to brighten up with a good pressure washing look how much just stuff is stuck to it now you can see better in the sun when we get to clean this thing it's really gonna come alive i'm excited to take a pressure washer to the inside yeah it's bad don't open it i'm just looking at a little bit closer now that we got some good light on it you can see chattanooga yellow in there this is there from the original construction they just took this with a band saw in his winter and smooshed it and called it good that's 19.89 for you i wonder if this held a flag or something i'm sure it did it could hang a flag on it yeah it's taking it in this is cool well the trailer lights stopped working for some reason i suspected the plug probably came loose i hope it didn't rip off the whole thing ripped off he said they fixed it i don't know who they had crimped this stuff but it must have been somebody who doesn't know how to crimp stuff because [Music] wouldn't be a good video if nothing happened figure if you have the ability to not fix your junk on the side of the road you should not fix a jump on the side of the road so we moved to a parking lot conveniently a hospital and i forgot to get my phone out of the back of the truck so we drove a few miles with my phone on the piece of duct tape so cool let's figure this out all we have to fix this is duct tape and a razor blade nice to know i can pull off the other sides too you know when i load this thing up i saw that these were heat shrink butt connectors but they were not heat shrunk so i thought you know that's kind of weird why wouldn't you do that probably a good idea to unplug it from the truck so i don't blow something out i don't know we'll see if i did this right i can't feel my fingers next step in the expedition is we're at kenny wallace's shop right now actually for unrelated to the trailer we're gonna do some some videos with him about what he's doing now and some hometown history stuff in st louis but also kind of hoping he zero idea what the trailer is we just told him that we were gonna be up this way to get a trailer and that's it talked to him on the phone when i called him he answered the phone like a talk show no big deal oh we need to get some butt connectors and maybe those led like the magnetic lights we can stick them on the back because we can't get the running lights to work yeah we got lucky i think we might have went down the right aisle what hey it's a shortcut yeah that would work we gotta read because i just use duct tape and like twist the wires together so actually i like make butt connectors on the right ones but i couldn't get the uh the running lights to work at all eight year years ago uh my dad we'd leave st louis and we'd go to raleigh missouri and he would never put lights on the trailer we ended up taking flashlights and ta and taping them on both sides and then then we'd take a red shop towel and go over the light so it would be red that's great i think this will be useful to have around you never know when you're going to have lights not work on something yeah right yeah with butt connectors maybe yes we need butt connectors yeah yeah we got a couple of these damn you're serious yeah well you get what you need then you get extra in case it happens again yeah it's only four dollars you know yeah probably a good idea to have a crimper in the truck this is like whenever things happen i'm prepared i'm like okay if this happened to me once i'm gonna prepare so it happens again i have what it needs plenty of times that i've had a trailer and i get ready to hurry up and leave and i'm like you know what i better take a jack in case i have a flat you know so i gotta get a picture of y'all yeah we gotta take some pictures but hey yeah if you both keep coming out here i'm gonna spend as much time as you need if you need even text all right time to fix the trailer well we got the left turn signal right turn signal and the brake lights working just by hooking up these two wires to the you know the green and yellow up in there which makes sense i know the blue ones trailer brake none of the other ones uh do not know what they do the trailer park lamp fuse under the hood was blown uh which makes me think i hooked up the wrong wire last time because my running lights working the open trailer just fine so it stole the fuse from the washer fluid pump which doesn't work because the tank is cracked so instead of continuing to blow fuses we'll try to power each wire with this jump pack and see what happens well this be bothers me that didn't do anything i hooked up the running light wire to the one i thought might be the running light wire on the trailer and it blew the fuse again so you know i don't know maybe it is a running light wire there might be a wiring problem inside there that's something we'll have to dig into later when we go to go through this thing but just to get us home i'm gonna put the trailer brake wire back on get that all buttoned up good we'll put those led magnet lights back there and we'll be fine so let's get that figured out let's leave kenny with some garbage here most prized position all right let's hit the road or actually no we gotta we gotta stick those lights on there and then we can hit the road anyone ever used these things before but they actually seem pretty nice like the case they come in is real stout they seem to be built pretty well let's see how strong the magnets are oh yeah it's not going to fall off cool apparently i didn't have to do any of the screw now with trailer wires on here because those lights don't just turn on i thought they were just red lights to lit up but they're actually wireless like this little dongle thingy goes in there and then the the trailer lights go magnetically go on there and they use a turn signal park light and all that but the fuse is blown for the running light feed in the front so you have to tap into the factory spare fuse thingy throw one in there to make it work hopefully if it doesn't work then we didn't accomplish anything because we still do not have running lights so hopefully that's not the case here okay so they do work now sweet these are freaking cool i think everybody should have these just in case something goes wrong that's great who would have thought this is probably one of the coolest things that harbor freight i've ever seen yeah i didn't expect them to be bluetooth like that no i thought they were just light up lights when i saw they were light yeah when i saw they were 121 i was like that's way more expensive than i thought it was going to be [Music] that i mean i did too but we we needed them so but now we're good to go so let's put these things on here well that's not gonna work we're not gonna put them down here because they'll get ripped off that's interesting hmm it's gonna have to work because the roof is aluminum no magnets up there i wish there was a way we could have done both of them but well let's get going this is better than not having any running lights at all i would say well we made it back we decided to just cannonball the whole way back from missouri i will say those harbor freight trailer lights were awesome they didn't even lose one dot of charge driving for 13 hours which is impressive i thought you know i thought we might actually have to stop because they would die but apparently you could drive coast to coast on charge of those things i keep noticing new stuff on it i kind of wonder what it used to look like with the chattanooga chew delivery like i wonder if where this is coming off if this had something under there if you could see any of it oh yeah you can look t e does that say team in there yeah i think so oh this glare is really helpful see if we can see anything else under here look how much more prominent the racing team looks they must need to use some good vinyl on here whatever they use for that not that good i think that we could get justin to help remake some of these decals but kind of distress them a little bit so that they're still visible like these ones these ones that are completely gone yeah and like some places yeah do the reflective stuff polish this up i see something else in here akl acklin or something something else maybe that was a part of the seconds logo it says seconds car refinishes warrior manufacturing february 89 yeah and i think that the antenna hole is where the water is leaking that looks like about where the bucket is in the cabinets we just got these hoodies in by the way check like 88 89 something like that then after that they made them all black so we did some with that with hoodies too these hats are like you know richardson's snapback look around in here a little bit
