Hey folks, that fix it guy here and today you're going to help me with the question I've been working on for a little bit. Two and a half weeks ago, I bought a set of pliers from Wrangler Stars, the shell of the week. So I wrote Wrangler Star and asked, would these really be better than my 426 channel locks? And he wrote back and said 100 times better. Well, that's a pretty big statement since I use these things all the time, right? And if somebody like him that has compared and reviewed a lot of tools, said it, well then I'm going to give it a shot. So that's where we're at today with this tool review. Was Wrangler Star right? So let me walk you through both these tools. I'll show you a little demo that little fix it helped me out with. And that'll be that. Come along. Let's get to fixing. So first up, let's talk about these 426s, right? These are just the small, these are just a small size channel lock. I mean, they're very handy. They fit in your pocket. You know, they're good for something up to about an inch, right? I mean, you could go a little bit bigger if you needed to, but you're not really gripping so much more than that. And have them be effective. But they're still very effective, man. I tighten up a lot of toilet bolts with these. I tighten up packing nuts. You know, sometimes I take off bolts, nuts if I need to. It's just one of those things. Like they're very essential to a plumber. Like most plumbers you meet, they're going to have a small pair of channel locks. I mean, personally, I'm a big channel lock fan. I actually like the channel lock brand. Everybody calls these tongue groove type pliers channel locks, but I actually like the channel lock brand. It was kind of hard for me because I'm very biased with these to go to something else and say, oh, man, well, we'll see. You can get a set of these with a set of 420s and a set of 440s plus a free screwdriver for a couple dollars more than I paid for these bad boys. Right? These bad boys right here were $33. When you get something that costs $33 and isn't this small, you just kind of laugh. I kind of laughed. I showed my wife. She definitely laughed. Thought I was a little bit crazy and said, what are you doing? And I'm like, hey, Wrangler star suggested these things. You know who that guy is? You know how many subscribers he's got? And she's like, what? All right. Well, whatever. Whatever floats your boat. I swapped these out for my 426s and I've been rolling around with these at work. I've been doing all kinds of backflow stuff, taking out plugs, taking off caps, testing steam. These things have been awesome. I don't think they have slipped on me once, which is very impressive. Now you can see these are definitely two different styles of jaws, right? This one is actually made for that crazy twist grip. I haven't seen that channel lock actually makes something like these in this size. I know they make something like these in a bigger size but I haven't seen them in this size. Another thing about these is that they lock in the place that you want them to, which I think is pretty awesome. It's a little patented design that awesome German manufacturer came up with. A little push button right here. You push this button. It pops this out and it just allows it to lock wherever you need it to, which that's another awesome convenience that I never knew that I needed, right? You find out about all these cool things. Man, YouTube is awesome. If you guys like the content, please subscribe. Check us out. We're just trying to help and have a little fun. You know, that's what this is all about, right? Helping people out and having fun. So with that, I've recruited a little fix it to come and give me a hand, because this kid's nothing but fun. So here we have a little fix it posted up in his cam chair like a movie star now. Just hanging out, waiting to help me out with this next video. So we're looking at two sets of pliers today. One is the channel lock 426, and the other is the Kanipex Cobra 6-inch pliers. These are the ones that were Wrangler's Stars shell of the week. Which one's both of their names? Which one, the one in your right hand? That is the Cobra pliers? Nope. Yes, and the one in your left hand, that is the channel locks, the 426s. And so what we're going to do here is I'm going to test each one of these out with our little homemade test kit and little fix it's going to help us. Kanipex sells this test bar that you can buy, but with the help of a little fix it and my trusty old dolly right here, we're going to go with the homemade test bar. First one we're going to go with is the Kanipex Cobra 6-inch little ones. And let's get this set up here. Go ahead and step on it. Okay, hold on, let me get this set up. Okay, now go ahead and stand up and then put your other foot up in the air. Remember like yesterday? Go ahead, look at that. Nope, get this one off, hold it up in the air, stand up, hold it up in the air. Yeah, that's a lot of pressure. Look at that. Okay, so that one holds. And so with that, then you can just, it's so easy to take off afterwards. You've seen how quick he was able to just remove that. Has that much grip that it's actually able to hold on there and hold his weight. But then if you want to release it, all you have to do is literally barely tap it. And it comes off. I use the 426s all the time. Like I love these little pliers. They work very well. And you can see right away that they don't have the same jaw structure as the Kanipex Cobra's. But we're going to see if it'll still do the same grip. Okay, little fix that you're up. So let's see. I don't even think it's going to stay on there. Go ahead and give it a shot. No. No, and all it's doing is actually just taking off my paint. Perfect. Let's try it one more time. No. Okay. Well, that was good. So this is not going to hold like that. So in my opinion, Wrangler Star was right that I'm going to enjoy these pliers. And they're going to work much better than my 426 channel locks. These are still going to serve a purpose in being my tool bag. But these are going to be my everyday carries now. So I'm glad little fix it was able to help out today. Because I couldn't imagine me trying to do that test with this little pair of pliers. If this little pair pliers broke because of my 250 pound, but I would have been very upset because I know if I broke them, I wouldn't buy another pair. So with that being said, we answered the question, right? Was Wrangler Star right? I think that he was. Very awesome. I like his shells the week. I'll continue to look at some more. And as for these, like, man, they're a plus, dude. Like, I still love these and they're going to be in my heart and in my toolbox forever. And I'll still use them. But this is my everyday carry now. I really hope this video helps. If you guys could please subscribe to the channel, click the like button. It would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much and have a great evening.
