This project guides you through installing an anti-tip device to secure furniture to a wall, preventing accidents, especially important for households with children. It demonstrates locating wall studs, installing brackets on both the wall and the furniture, and connecting them with a metal wire, including troubleshooting common issues like a broken screw.

It ain't tipin' anywhere. Very secure. Hey folks, that fixed a guy here. Today we're gonna be installing an anti-tip device. These two little brackets plus this wire right here are gonna ensure that nothing pulls away from your wall and falls onto one of your kids. Okay, that is the purpose of these anti-tip devices. We have a daughter that is about 10 months old now. She's starting to crawl, she's starting to get into everything and she's been playing around with this bookshelf back behind me. So today I'm gonna secure that. We just wanna make sure that no bookshelf, no dresser, no TV stand, no none of that is gonna follow on one of our kids. You know how kids are, how they like to climb, they like to get into things. We just wanna make sure this does not happen. So come along, let's get to fixing. So this right here is a six pack of these metal anti-tip brackets. This is a metal loop wire that actually unscrews. Here, let me show you. Unscrews like that, it's kinda like a bracelet or something. I guess it could be a bracelet. You need a little extra bling on a Friday night. Slap that, bad boy on. Or you forget a last minute anniversary gift. Look at that. Pretty, pretty. And here's that fix a guide tip. You wanna get out of doing the dishes? Just cut your finger while you're doing it. Your wife, oh, at least I should not do it for a couple of days. I cut my finger, boy. It's like, I don't worry about, I've finished the dishes. If I knew it was that easy, I'd just cut my finger to start with. It also comes with some screws to screw these brackets in. If you need them, it comes with some wall anchors. But me personally, I like to go into a stud. I'm just a big fan of that. I got a drill bit here so I can pre-drill just because these actually are pretty cheap IKEA shelves. I mean, you can see I can just move that like that. They're not the sturdiest. These are just particle boards. So we'll go ahead and use that to screw into it. And then, as always, my little magnetic stud finder to find a stud. And we'll just shoot the stuff in with a little impact drill. Go up on the wall and we're going to look for a stud. And you see that bad spot right there? What it looks like a patch? It probably is a patch or at least a bad tape job. And there's a stud right there. So from right there, we're just gonna go down. We're gonna go about to right there. So it's not in the middle, but it's close enough for me to where I like that spot. And it'll be good. So let's just take this shelf for a second, slide it right out of our way. Just put a mark right there. Okay, so right down here is where our screw mark is. And I'm just gonna take this and I'm gonna split it. I'm gonna put that screw right in the middle of those two. And I'm just gonna pre-drill just a little bit through here. That's a bummer. That's definitely not going right there. Unfortunately. So let's figure out what else we're gonna do. That screw broke off in there. And what we're gonna do now is we've got enough room. We're actually just gonna use the bottom hole. And we're gonna take that and we're just gonna put this right down here. And so that's hooked up there now. I just went and grabbed another drill bit. I'm just gonna pre-drill deep enough for these screws to work. So now we'll just switch back to the impact and we'll put another screw in. Just leave that a little bit loose. Grab another screw. Okay, we'll do that. And we've got that bad boy put on. Okay, since since we're back here, we're just gonna grab some of this spackle real quick. It seriously is so hard having a band-aid over my index finger because I use it for everything. So I just gotta switch it around. Go a little pinky action. Okay, so now we're just gonna take this and push it back in place. We're going to just give ourselves a little mark right here. That's right down here. So we're just gonna come right here. Doesn't have to be precise, right? Now you can see that right there is where our mark is. Just put this next bracket. We'll just kind of center that up. If you guys like the channel, if you could please subscribe, it would be greatly appreciated. So I'm doing all this for my family. We are really trying to help my wife to stay at home and be a full-time mom. That is my whole mission with starting a YouTube channel. We were just looking for another way to one. Help some people out and to help ourselves. Help my wife to stay home. We really want this for our kids and so we're doing everything we can to make this dream happen. And so then we'll just take this bracket and put the screws in there. Grab our impact again with the shorter screws and just get it in there. Get it on there nice and tight. Like I said, you can see this thing, man. It is IKEA and it is not that sturdy. Oh, look at that, dead spider. Get that little critter off of there. So now we take our cool little bracelet slash metal type zip tie and we'll not try to lose our camera. Put this bad puppy through there, through the bottom, through this side right here. They make plastic versions of this stuff. I just seen the metal fairly inexpensive and you know what, like it's pretty awesome. Solid metal construction. I know what's not gonna break. Okay, and now we have that on there and now it ain't tipin' anywhere. Very secure. I think this shelf is gonna fall apart long before it ever comes off the wall. All right folks, so that is my install of these anti-tip brackets. Their solid metal construction is one of the big things I really like about them. I'll put a link in the description box below. I'll also put a link for the tools that I used. It wasn't too much. If we didn't have that broken bit issue, it would have been a lot simpler. But things happen. You just work your way through that. Don't get stressed out about it. That's the nature of the beast, man. The number one thing is that where our kids are a little bit safer now, right? That's what I'm trying to do for myself and that's what I'm trying to do for you and your family as well. These things are important. You might not think so, but the statistics out there are very real. The numbers of accents that happen because of a heavy piece of furniture flipping over is it sucks. All right, so I really hope this video helps. If you could please subscribe to the channel, click the like button. My family and I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you very much and have a great day.
