What happens here
This video details how to adjust a misaligned door jamb by replacing short or loose hinge screws with longer, more secure ones. This repair resolves issues like the deadbolt not fully engaging and the door sticking or not closing flush against the frame, ultimately restoring proper door functionality and security.

(5,487 characters)okay so here is the lock that we're looking at you can kind of see inside that crack it's not going 100 it doesn't go the whole way in so even if we really push on the door it still doesn't go the whole way in so we got to figure out what's going on with that hey folks that fix it guy here so today we're going to be looking at a door that doesn't lock i have a friend that reached out to me on that fixing guys diy group on facebook and asked if i could come over and take a look at a lock her front door actually hasn't locked in over a week and so we're going to take a look see what's going on so if you don't know what that fix it guys diy group is it's a group that i started on facebook and i really just wanted to build a community of people that want to help each other out with different kinds of home repairs so please go check it out join um and hopefully we can fix some stuff and now come along let's get to fixing [Music] [Applause] so if you look right here this is the top hinge and you can see that gap right there that's not supposed to be there it looks like the top hinge is starting to come away from the board here and let's see what we can do so we'll just open the door up take a look at the hinge itself and see what's going on all right so right away that's not good if you could actually move a screw with your finger that's not good it it looks like it's pulling away right here and right here i actually just pulled that out with my fingers so that is definitely not good we will do something about that i think we might have found the culprit as to why that's not working we'll remove this short one and we'll put a longer one in real quick okay so i have a two inch screw here and it's a little bit fatter than the other ones and we're gonna go ahead and we're gonna pop this in there and see if we can get this to suck back in a little bit okay so then we'll just grab the cordless drill oh yeah that sucked that right back in pretty good okay let's pop these other ones out oh yeah none of these none of these bad boys these things were all like a half inch long and i don't even think they were going into anything yeah that one you know it's good when you can take them out with your fingers [Music] [Applause] oh so they had one long screw and three three babies yeah that's two and it already looks about a thousand times better okay and so now we go to shut the door and you just notice that it kind of hangs up right here and so now we're gonna have to look at the bottom okay and you look at that and it's the same thing right that is not in there at all so let's see what's going on with these screws see how loose they are or what's going on with them and we'll try to get this one straightened out as well and sucked in let's just pop a screw out and see what it looks like oh yeah we're just spinning i don't know is it normal that your door hinges have this smallest screw like i know mine don't uh i think they're at least like a inch and a half or something it's not that small yeah they don't even they're not even in like none of them okay just grab some more here [Applause] oh these guys they're awesome they strip that screw out when they put it in that's awesome awesome okay do something else with that one let's get these ones put in okay and that is back to being hooked up and flush as well let's grab some little 426s we're going to try to just spin this screw out that's not fast forward either that's actually how fast i'm taking this out all right so this was the only screw that really was holding that in but i just assume replace it i'll just pop a little bit longer of a wood screw in there i kind of ran out of the other ones so there we go so now that's all hooked up that's back in it's flush it's tight okay and just for the sake of thoroughness we're gonna go ahead and we're gonna take the middle ones out too and you can see that if i'm able to just screw that out by hand it's not good man once again leak blows my mind these little screws you can only put three in this side because they broke that one off it's a bummer [Applause] but at least they'll be able to lock the door tonight and hopefully this one's not luckily that wasn't stripped you can see they did their best to strip it though they tried all right so now we'll check the door out and go to close it now it's good to roll so that could have been a lot worse bad situation with the appliance store they jacked that up that was not the way that should have been left especially not for a couple as cool as these guys like really they are so nice and they kind of got taken advantage of there a little bit every one of these i could take out that were hand tight there literally was three screws in that whole door that was keeping it together and eventually it just all failed and you couldn't even lock the front door so it sucks like i it sucks that you have to watch over people like that all the time please if you do a job like this do your job that's my whole bottom line with this so i love helping people and i'm glad that she reached out to me to help her out with this please go check out that fix it guys diy group on facebook it's a community happy to help also if you could subscribe to the channel click that like button it would be greatly appreciated we're just trying to help and hopefully we can uh get
