Vlog 4 - Retaining Wall and Deck Board Installation

What happens here

After the decking is substantially complete, the team moves on to constructing custom built-in features. This includes framing out a dedicated wall for a television and an integrated fireplace, which will be built deep into the structure. Additionally, a built-in bar is planned, with considerations for integrating a mini-fridge. A custom built-in couch will also be constructed, designed to maximize usable space and tie in seamlessly with the overall aesthetic. An animated rendering provides a visual of the final design for these features, showcasing materials like a stone fireplace and bar with a countertop.

Goal: Construct custom TV/fireplace wall, bar, and couch

Tools and materials

  • Level Tool — Ensuring vertical and horizontal accuracy during framing
  • Lumber — Framing the custom built-in features
  • Measuring Tape — Accurate measurements
  • Plywood — Sheathing the framed walls

Decking mostly down. We're really getting to some of the details that are going to make this whole thing come together. Number one, uh we've got a really cool design for our TV wall. We're going to have a fireplace down below. We've got to build out this wall pretty deep. So, what we're going to do, we got the fireplace going below. We're going to do an entire recessed TV and shelving kind of unit. I think it's going to look really cool. It's going to create some dimension. We'll have those built-in shelves. Uh, switch up the material a little bit. It's going to be really cool. And then over here, my favorite way to maximize usable space is to build things in. When you build in the seating and the furniture, you maximize every square inch. So, what we're doing here, bar We're going to play around with the idea of integrating a mini fridge at the end of this bar and then we're going to do a built-in couch. So, something that we've done one other time and it really works great to, like I said, maximize every square inch. So, we can make this couch all the way up to our fireplace wall. We can build it all the way across our bar and it's just going to tie in seamlessly and it's going to add at least a couple extra seats which is going to be great. So, by
