Prime the Ram Pump

What happens here

To start the ram pump, the delivery pipe (which leads uphill) must first be filled with water to equalize with the pond's water level. This is achieved by repeatedly pushing down the waste valve on the ram pump. Each push forces a small amount of water up the delivery pipe. Continue this action until enough water is in the delivery pipe for the pump to automatically begin its regular cycling. This priming process can take anywhere from 30 seconds to several minutes, depending on the length and height of the delivery pipe.
