Using gravity to pump water nonstop without power! Full water system install!

What happens here

To keep the intake filter suspended at the correct depth (12-16 inches below the surface, off the pond bottom), assemble a float system. Use a marine-grade rope attached to a copper bracket on the intake filter. Thread four small floats onto this rope. The entire assembly will then loop over a galvanized steel fence post that needs to be driven securely into the pond bottom. This allows the intake filter to move with changing water levels while remaining submerged and away from bottom debris. The post should protrude about 12 inches from the water.

Goal: Secure the intake filter at the proper depth in the pond.

Tools and materials

  • Copper Bracket — Attaching the rope to the intake filter, resistant to rust
  • Floats — Keeping the intake filter suspended at the desired depth
  • Galvanized Steel Fence Post — Anchoring the intake filter system in the pond bottom
  • Intake Filter Assembly N/A — The assembled filter and its attached rope/bracket
  • Marine-grade Rope — Connecting the floats and attaching to the anchor post
  • Post Driver — Driving the fence post into the pond bottom
  • Waders — Staying dry while working in the pond
