Understanding how to pick out the right size Tires, Rims and wheels

What happens here

The hosts delve into the specifics of several tire and wheel combinations. They start with a stock 31-inch tire on a 17-inch wheel, typical for a Jeep, noting it will fit most vehicles without modifications. Next, they present a 33-inch tire on a 16-inch wheel, which is a common upgrade for vehicles with a 2-inch leveling kit. Finally, a heavy-duty truck tire, just over 33 inches in diameter and 9 inches wide on a factory wheel (from an F250 or F350), is shown as a starting point for larger trucks, also fitting with minimal or no modifications.

Goal: Identify tire and wheel sizes that fit with little to no vehicle modification.

Let's just go down the the line, okay, of what we've got here. Stock Jeep. Stock Jeep size. So, this is going to be a 31in tire. Okay, this is going to fit on just about anything out there. And this is an 8 17 17in wheel. 17in wheel. Now, this is a 32 32.8. So, this is just under a 33. This is the most typical size you're going to find on anything that's leveled. So, the 2in leveling kits that they throw on stuff, you're going to see this tire right here, 12 1/2 wide, just under a 33. And so, this has got a 16-in rim. Yep. So, you can see the different sizes in the rims. All right, we got to jump in here because we need to clarify something. I keep saying rim, and that's actually the wrong term. There's two main components that people are familiar with, tires and rims, but in reality, the right way to phrase it is wheel. So, you're going to notice me trying to correct that, and later on, I'm going to actually break down the different parts of the tire and name all of the different components so we can all be on the same page. But for right now, every time I say rim, really, what I'm referring to is the wheel. And I'll make it much more clear in just a minute. Absolutely. And so now this one, this one is our factory heavy duty truck. So this is off of an F250 or F350. This is just over a
