(19,995 characters)All right, guys. We're going to be actually talking about snow plows, but not just one snow plow. We're going to be talking about Fisher snow plows, Boss snow plows, Western snow plows, SnowDog snow plows. We're going to the back end of the truck and we're going to be talking about snow power and short iron pull plows. And what we're going to basically do is we're going to walk through every one of these snow plows so when these guys are buying them, they kind of got an idea what they're getting into. But I also want to get your your take on before we even start. Front plow or rear plow? You got to pull You got to pick one. Which one are you taking? This year, I like the rear plow. I've using that a lot more. Using it so So, you actually Tim actually pulls his front plow off when he gets to some sites and drops it just to use the rear plow more efficiently. Yeah, cuz at the town home situation we're at, you get across. By the time you pull the driveway out, you're already across the street in some spots. So, cuz you got a long truck. Yeah, I got a long box with the extended cab. Okay. All right. And so, we're going to be covering that in detail in this video. So, without wasting any more time, let's do this thing. So, let's let's do a look at a new Boss V-plow while we're here cuz you have them. Is this a brand new one right here? I got Yeah, I got a Oh, so you got a straight and you've got a a V right here. Correct. Now, that has the Smart-Hitch system, right? Yes. That still has it cuz I've had I've owned Boss for a decade. Love the Boss Yep. front plows for a decade. Love them. Never had In fact, Boss's service to me was amazing. Correct. I mean, they they were just a great company to work with. But, can you show them us some of the features on the Boss plow? Uh the biggest thing that they have really really hit the market with now is their headlights. If you want to come around and look at the headlights, this is their new LED headlights. They are insane. I mean, they There's They're They're amazing. They put the heating element right inside the light itself because, you know, with the LEDs, they don't They don't put off Yeah, they don't have that heat. So, they put the heating element in there where it keeps it 50° and it's powered right I mean, it isn't drawing a lot of power cuz it's powered right off the same power supply that is firing the lights with. No snow sticks to it in the the guys I mean, we have like a a following for the people that when their buddies get one, it's really really shortly after they're in here getting the same one. You actually see like it's got the defroster on it. So, Yep. you can actually see that. Yep. And they also run a running light across the top. It's kind of kind of looks like the the Audi in a way. And uh that one is it's extremely nice and they run an integrated turn signal, all LED. Everything's all LED now and everything's got the the heated from here on out. Um they started doing little things. Uh for example, even just the littlest things with doing the the guards around the hoses cuz that's one thing that, you know, hoses get pinched, hoses get worn. Yep. They've added extra holes to put your to put your light bar up another extra couple holes. The biggest thing that you people notice is when any of the V-plows when you put them in the scoop position, well, some of the headlights when you get to a smaller more compact, you don't get the light that broadcast over. Boss seen that was an issue, so they added more holes so you can raise it up a little bit taller. That's been one great feature that has been extremely noticeable. Same thing with the controller, you can still take your same controller, same wiring for any of the trucks, bang into any of the Boss plows, and you can run it. You can take a V, run your straight blade. They made it really easy for trying to have a cross the board to where you're not down. The smart hitch system, can you tell me what that Tell me a little bit about that because you really don't have to run back and forth from your cab of your truck out to the plow. It's all right here. What you do is you put you put it in the float position on your controller, double tap down on the center button. Once it's in float and everything hooked up sitting here, you flip these in the on position, and it actually will hold it. Out, these pins here hold it out on each side. Once it's in float and you got your truck up there, take your button, you flip your button up. This rocks up, locks it on. And this one may go up. Make sure you put your kickstands up. I mean, as much as I like money and we could sell a lot of kickstands. I I The first timers, it's always a bummer to see cuz you tell people all the time, but that's the number one thing is you see that The bent kickstand. Yeah. Yeah, the the The biggest thing on that is the guys that went from the V's to the new EXT's, they never had to have a kickstand till now. Yeah, we've we sold a lot of kickstands. But once it's on, you just you just drive off, and that's uh Now Now they they also make wing kits for V-plows. Yes, they do. It adds 1 ft on each side, so you're basically taking 8 ft and you add a foot on each side. And you also have carrying capacity. Correct. More So, you're now getting the benefit of What do you call those extender wing ones or what do you call them? Yeah, well, the Boss runs the EXT. It's It's the same You're kind of getting the same thing. It's It's adding the flare to it. They're really Once they're on the truck, they're really easily removed. It's You pull a pin, you twist them. Um There's a dowel pin in here. So, once you pop this you can slide it out and you actually can slide them out and throw them in the back of your truck. Um if you want to leave them on, you can. Uh People who like to run around with the 9-2s and they want to throw them on there, it's better to take them off cuz you got You got a lot of plow going down the road. of plow, yeah. probably going to thank you anyways for taking them off, so That's true. You guys know I have a love-hate relationship with Western, but here's one of the facts. After 3 years of running the Western V-plows, I'm actually starting to really respect and like the snow plow. I don't like the cutting edge because I feel that they've intentionally let use less quality on Western's cutting edge, but the snow plows themselves So, Tim's has been is perfectly fine, but I want you guys to look at something. You see my snow plow? Zander, one of my guys totaled a car out with my snow plow. Smacked right in the back. How bad was the damage he did it to that car? I mean, it was totaled, right? smashed the back of it up. He totaled it up. Now, take a look at my plow. They build them tough. You can see where he hit right here. But other than that, this plow has got a little tweak to one of the cylinders, which we've got to fix. But the plow itself is fine. The frame is fine. Everything else is on the fine. And in the 3 years we've been both running these plows, have you ever had any issues with your snow plow? Not once. Not Not one hole is went. Nothing. Nothing Absolutely nothing but good things to say about that. Nothing has went except for the cutting edge. Do you agree or disagree with me? Your opinion, I don't care. I wanted it to last longer than it did, but you know, we were also doing some bigger parking lots, so that could have We did It lasted one season for both of us. Yeah, it wasn't And then the the second cutting edge lasted And then we got the heavy duty cutting edge, and that lasted one season. And in the same time frame, my Hiniker snowplow was on its fifth season, and it still had over half the cutting edge left. So, that's the difference between a heavy plow and a light plow. You're going to get more And you had It was a straight scoop, right? And it was also um What's that? Poly? Poly? Yeah. So, poly So, but there was no It depends on how much weight Okay, but there was no difference in it. Still plowed the snow, it scraped the lot the same as these snowplows did. Okay? And when it comes down to it, $700, $700 in cutting edges, and we did that twice before I even was thinking about changing a Hiniker cutting edge. Yeah, I think it was at like 150 or something. It wasn't It was It was pretty Yeah, the Hiniker cutting edge was like 200 bucks on top of it. I can't remember that. I always thought Western and Fisher were the same because they're made by the same company, but they're not. There There are some differences when it comes to the the Western and Fisher that we've seen. Um Do you have any here? I have a Fisher sitting right there or I have a Fisher stainless right there. Let's go look at it. Yeah, you were saying that the Fisher is a heavier duty plow. It They definitely have a heavier features on on how they're built. That's the one thing we noticed. Um their hookup is much as it may seem, you know, not as easy as grabbing the handle, flipping it up. There are so many people that are just tried and true that really enjoy this because when it locks in, it once it's broken, it does actually hook up really nice and most people they really don't they really don't take that into consideration. This isn't even the newest of the new, but this one here I mean just the gauge of how heavy everything is across the board. Looking at them, there's a lot of differences that you can see. I mean just even how if you've seen how the other ones are even you know the light towers are connected, you know they were for a long time you know bolted in here on some other ones and this one here is all one nice two-piece. It's extremely rigid and it really they do roll snow extremely nice. I mean they There's So now when you say roll snow, I want to take a look at actual Right Right in here when you start seeing that some of them don't taper nearly as much. Kind of why you have such a heavy following on the Leo big curls. Guys just love them. And the reason you could you could actually drive at a fairly decent clip and the snow would just you know roll right off the top. They Guys still love them to this day. I mean Yeah, I own a I own one. Yeah, I still own one. I own a Leo. Yeah, they're they're they're they're a great plow and that's the big thing that I noticed when running the Fishers is they just seem like when they get to here they put a nice cut on there to where they you know roll the snow away. So yeah, this is definitely a very heavy-duty looking unit for sure. Now I have no experience running a Fisher. I've never ran one in my life. But this is a brand new Fisher? Yeah, yep this one's this one's here and they actually even such have changed some things from this model to the newest ones that have come out in the last couple months. So Now let's talk about this SnowDogg in the middle. Guys, I grabbed the controller for the Snowdog and I I mean I'm I'm old school. I'll tell you straight up in less than I'd say 10 minutes, I had the controller patterned out. I could run it comfortably. Up, down. Full scoop, full retract, blade side to side. This is a very easy plow to get to know. Now, let's look at the controller for the Western. Looks similar, but it's not. Okay, on this in the car, this is the good button. Up this button is easy, down button is easy. This kind of angles your entire thing. Here's where they get goofy. Scoop, retract, and then you want one wing or the other wing. Hit it once, it goes forward. Hit it again, it goes backward. Once it goes forward, hit it again, it goes backward. Maybe you some of you guys like that. I don't. works and this plow bites better than any plow I've driven. Bites better than the Boss, bites better than the Western. I don't know what it is, but it just literally goes right down to the pavement and scrapes it up. Now, a couple things with the Boss snow plows, I ran them for about 10, maybe 12 years. One of the things I noticed about the wings on the Boss plows, when you come into a big pile like you just seen me come into, the wings will tend to fold and cave. Meaning you can't grab that giant heavy wet pile and push it, because it's going to flop down around both sides. Yeah, the Western doesn't have that problem. Now, the this Snowdog doesn't have that problem either. So, the Snowdog and the Western both will beat the boss when it comes being able to grab a heavy wet pile of snow and move it up. It's you're going to pay less for the Snow Dog and get a stainless steel blade. Now, let's talk about stainless steel for a minute. Or but this stainless steel has superior corrosion resistance to a standard moldboard except for poly. Poly is the only thing that's going to beat stainless steel because stainless steel, contrary to popular belief, that's good enough, Frankie. Um stainless steel, if you etch it, so if you get it scarred, then you kind of work your way through it, then you can actually get So, you can actually corrode it. The sandy sandy snow with frozen uh frozen sand and chunks of ice that you're pushing around. But with it's it's a lot tougher and corrosion resistant than these guys. You can slap that on here, too, the same um sheets of stainless if you wanted to on these Westerns, can't you? Um that I don't know. You wouldn't quote me on it. Now, one of the things that we did is we actually upgraded Tim's cutting edge again. That's the heaviest duty one. So, if you guys are going to go with the Western, my bit of advice to you is try to buy it without their cutting edge and then use this cutting edge cuz there's night and day difference. This is called a Winter Equipment Cutting Edge. This is the same cutting edge that they use on the roads on the DOT the DOT uses. So, it's got 400% more carbide Wow. than um any other cutting edge out there. You're going to pay more for this blade, but this is a multi multi-season blade. So, if you don't like wrenching in the middle of January when your nose pickers are getting frozen, you go with something like this and you'll get through season after season on them. Here, I'll take the camera, Frankie. Let's look at how the similarities between a Western system going up and down. So, you can see that the Western uses the chain system in the hoist in the center and it's eerily similar to the Snow Dogg. And what I'm saying is if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Right? Right. Okay. So, I want you to take a look at that. That's the UltraMount 2. And here's the Snow Dogg system. Almost identical. In fact, you got the foot pegs on the side on the Snow Dogg. Same thing on the Western. So, there's a lot of similarities in the basic hoist system. Now, you've got a couple differences that I want to point out. On the Western, your wing your wing hydraulics are right here. So, you can see it right there. Snow Dogg's almost the same position, but you've also got a guard mount so that the wings don't come back. So, this bar right here is a guard mount so the wings don't come back too far. So, if you do hit a curb or you hit something, it's extra protection for the snow plow itself. So, do these Don't let me inter- let me interrupt you, but when you pop these down, you can set them at any level of what ground you're That's pretty cool. Yep. I like that. And then it This looks like I've never seen this before, but so you just when you pop this pin this this How does this work? Yeah, you pop that pin out and then you can you release the pressure. And actually, you know what? Instead of talking about it, I'm going to go I'm either going to include it in this video or I'm going to put it into a completely different video because we've hooked unhooked walked through these. We're just doing a round up on this one. So, that bar across gives you more connection surface connection area or tell me about that, Will. That bar just kind of helps This is what that bar sits on. It latches on to here. Okay. So, that just gives you the push the strength across there and then you got your top pin going up through there. So, then your pins there line up with the hole right there. Yep. Okay. Oh, do that one more time, will you? I missed it. So, that's what's going through there. So, show me the handle right there one more that piece. Why does that got that knurly grip on it there? You know? Oh, yeah. I was going to say, is that It's made so take your foot and push against it and if there's a little bit of snow on there, it helps grip it. Okay, so yeah, got it. a new feature that they started coming out with in the last 2 years is it was smooth before and you'd always go to do it and your boot would slip off. Okay. One of the things I don't like about the Snow Dogg is the headlights. You take a look at these headlights. I don't think they're the same level of quality as the Western headlights. And I know Boss is the ruler when it comes to headlights. They've got the best headlights on the market cuz their headlights actually have heat um they're actually heated headlights. So, they've got actually like a defroster element in the headlights themselves. So, as as excited as I am about this Snow Dogg, it's not perfect and I'm not going to tell you that it is, but when I'm talking about bang for the buck, I was really impressed with these guys. Still love my Western. That's proved itself good. Boss is an amazing system, I think, um with great service. A lot of good things and Fisher is a super heavy-duty snow plow, too, which we haven't had a chance to run, but I did get to talk to a guy that does a lot of installations on them and he pointed out some of the finer features on those snow plows and I was really impressed with those things. So, these snow plows have their good things, they have their bad things. We kind of covered some of those things on them. All right, let's go to the back of the trucks now and check and check these All right, let's talk about these pull pull plows and if they're really worth the money. Okay, we've got an account where it took two guys 4 and 1/2 hours to do. One pickup truck with a front plow, that Western front plow Yep. and a skid loader with actually a Quattro plow. So, one of our you know, most highest efficiency plows we had the foldable wings on it. We'd send both of those guys out there and on average it would be nine equipment hours, 4 and 1/2 hours. So, they'd start at midnight and end the two guys would end at like 4:30 a.m. That's nine equipment hours. Since we picked these plows up, I can go out by myself and get it done in 2 hours and 45 minutes, less than 3 hours. So, literally the time without any other piece of equipment, without a second guy, I can go out and do the same job in 1/3 of the time. Now, you actually timed the other day. Just we had enough snow where you went out and plowed it. How long did it take you by yourself with this plow? I'd say 3 and 1/2 hours. So, 3 and 1/2 hours. Yep. So, right let's just call it somewhere in the middle, 3 hours and 10 minutes. So, every time we snow plow we're knocking almost 6 hours off from that one single account. We went from 9 hours down to a little bit over 3 hours. And when you've got 15 account or 21 one events because we have a zero tolerance, so we get 21 less than 1-in snowfalls per year, we literally are saving 80 What the hell is 21 * 6? Isn't that like 126. What? 126. 126, Frankie? Yeah. Is that right? Buddy, how much better things work when you take the traction control off? I think it's drinking. How did you figure that out that fast? Simple math. 72 toothpicks. 72 toothpicks. 172. So, it saved us 126 hours on just that single account. Are these well worth it? I wouldn't I couldn't plow without one now. I don't think it'd be as fun now. I got used to this thing. Right. I don't I just I couldn't do it. I would I would give up in frustration if I had to try to go out and plow. deal. At first, I didn't really like it, you know, but I I thought I I had trouble backing up with it and and…
