this is one of my oldest accounts that I've ever done I've been servicing this account for over 28 years in a row now and although it's not one of my bigger accounts it's one that I do take a lot of pride in but it's also one of my more difficult accounts because can never get people to leave the parking lot on this thing there's always cars parked in it so anytime we want to come in and do an actual really good job we've got to give them 48 hours notice and even then we still have problems so without wasting our time let's get into today's video where we're gonna plow this lap from start to finish salt this Laden so a lot of times when I come out to plow this lot both sides of the parking lot are plumb full of cars and I'm only able to get a swath down the center done so a lot of times the edges of the ladder just packed with Kate Don compacted snow and you'll see me I got to go over it sometimes two or even three times to get that to scratch off and you'll see Frankie's fat fingers come into the video every now and then cuz well he's half-blind and he was holding camera for me so he didn't realize what he was doing which is no big deal why did you know what that sausage up in the corner is that's his thing hey can I ask you guys a question while I was editing this video it was just kind of oddly calming and mesmerizing are you guys picking up on that or is it just me being best part is I'm not actually there to plow the lot I'm there to salt the lot but I really wanted the salt to actually work and so I figured I'd better to scrape it really good before I even lay any salt down or actually Frankie lays any soft on that's what he'll be doing while I go do the other two Lots in this complex so I'll be scraping them while he's salting this one so let's quick jump over to one of the other Lots see what's going on over there my lot but the guys down there and of course he's got a broken leg I mean why wouldn't he have a broken leg cuz why not make me feel guilty about moving his car there he comes trying to move this car yes he's gonna walk up that icy Hill to go get his car my tool bag hop in I'll give you a lift up what's your name Alex nice to meet you come on in don't bother the camera in your face i film everything it's just the way I am thank you what'd you do to your foot good surgery yeah all right so here's the deal I'll plow the lot real quick or you can just stay right in your car okay and then falling you can just drive back up and oh no Martha go to school so I got to leave regardless oh okay perfect well by the time you get back we'll have this lock cleared up for a instead of this nasty mess but thanks for moving your car appreciate it yeah you guys good job oh thank you man appreciate it we've been doing it for 28 years we got a bit of practice under our belts actually been doing it here at this account you know when I talk I say so many things wrong and you're gonna hear it in a minute I say I don't we don't do a ton of snow plowing what I mean is we don't do a ton of salting so there's nothing special or secret about how we do it we don't do a ton of snow plowing but we do got to make sure that we get the right salt for the temperature I'll show you guys something I'll show these guys helmet what's your application rate Frankie do you know you just look at how much salts going on the lot pretty much that is the dirtiest looking rock salt I've seen this is that temperatures tough door what's that scene yeah they were slipping it sliding in the parking lot so so Chantal called me two weeks ago about salting this I gave her a price that heard nothing so Frankie you're saying this is the temperature stuff so this salt so this salta work colder so you guys I know a lot of you guys already know this but case you don't salt works only at certain temperatures different mixes of salt and it's not the air temperature you got to actually take a temp probe on the ground to get it to work so wheat when we go and buy the salt we buy bags because we can have a thirty degree day like we have today or we could have a negative three degree day and the same salt at 30 degrees does not work at three degrees you need a different mixture and so then we have to please specifically buy salt no wait we picked up was colder temperature salt because at night the temp could drop down on us and it'll still be effective at a higher temperature but it's more expensive so this up was twice as much as the warmer temperature salt I know that sounds stupid but you can buy pretty cheap standard rock salt for a water softener for four or five bucks a bag and this stuff is six bucks and you only get 50 pounds of bag instead of 80 pounds so I'm gonna scoot over to the next lot it's not getting that one ready unreal oh nice I found that this snow dog is my best blade yeah it's better than my back blade it's better than any other snow plow I got I don't know why it just is the most aggressive for actually cutting and scraping that I found if I hit that straight I'll be able to get a better cut along the edge of that sidewalk now on a lot this size Frankie and I all use about a hundred and fifty to two hundred pounds of bagged sodium chloride it's a little different than rock salt and we will and could use rock salt in this application but we just fall in sodium chloride work now I had actually put pile a bunch of snow up and you could see where I went through with the back Drake law but I missed this area right here here's another thing once you salt a lot don't plow it because you can plow the salt off from the parking lot and I know that it's you're gonna be you're gonna be tempted to go out and plow right away because it's melting but just let the salt do its course for a while before you come back how's that Red Devil working hey do you ever hand spread the salt anymore Frankie you prefer the the push behind block what about a hand spreader hand caster okay I'm just trying to give these guys options and get your opinion even Corner to use a spreader yeah you do it by hand so you like yeah kind of over see I like I don't mind doing grass seed by hand because you then you can rake it in you got to rake it in and even it out but with salt I prefer a spreader yeah I agree with you cuz there's you don't rake the salt around right hey I got a quick question for you guys today's video is kind of more of a low-key just here we are at work explaining a few things every now and then but really nothing too special kind of video did you like it if you did I can do more of them where maybe I talk less just every now and then add some in and just let you guys watch the equipment doing its thing and watching us do our thing let me know what you think of it in the comments down I honestly want to make good equipment videos for you guys so tell me if you want more of these Morris a mouse or something entirely different god bless go get him you guys we will see you on the next one and here's some just kind of cool footage of my pay loader plowing snow that I threw in because see on the next one you guys
