Permanently Fasten the Ledger Board

What happens here

With the ledger board temporarily in place, it's time for permanent fastening. Using your cordless drill/driver, drive structural screws (such as lag screws or specialized ledger board fasteners designed for shear and withdrawal resistance) through the ledger board and house wrap, ensuring they penetrate securely into the house's rim joist or other framing members. Refer to local building codes for the appropriate type, size, and spacing of fasteners. As you drive each screw, use a spirit level to continuously check that the ledger board remains perfectly horizontal. Adjust as necessary before fully tightening each fastener to ensure a level and secure attachment.
