After the nuts are fully tightened, the excess length of the closet bolts must be cut off so the decorative caps will fit. Use a mini hacksaw with a fresh blade to carefully saw through each bolt. Cut the bolt so that it is flush with or just slightly above the top of the nut. Be careful not to scratch the porcelain of the toilet bowl with the saw.
