This video demonstrates the utility of a mini hacksaw for working in tight spaces, specifically for plumbing tasks like removing a compression ferrule from a copper pipe. It then provides instructions on how to easily replace the blade of this mini hacksaw by hand, contrasting it with traditional hacksaws and highlighting its durability.

hey folks that Fix-It guy here and today we're adding one of my absolute favorite tools to the bucket all right this right here is a mini hacksaw I've used a bunch of variations of this thing this is my favorite so come along let's get to fixing [Music] [Applause] all right so as you can see the size difference is Big right let's go ahead and just bust that tag off of there be done with that look at that thing all right you're talking a six inch blade versus a 12 inch blade plus the handle the handle right overall length quite big a hacksaw has its place but sometimes it just doesn't fit in the space and we are going to use an old angle stop replacement as our demonstration today so after removing your old angle stop I like to remove this ferrule some people don't remove them some people reuse them and they'll just take a brand new valve like this awesome one from doll and then just slap it right on there so I like to take a compression sleeve puller like this or a different version and actually remove this feral but I completely understand if you don't want to buy a specialty tool just to remove one feral you could try to take it off with a pair of channel locks okay you could just get right here and just kind of try to work that ferrule this way but now that doesn't work and that's where this comes in so if we actually had enough pipe we might get back here with the cutter but if we use this cutter it's not going to leave us a lot of space is if you really wanted to and there's enough space right here you could cut this you could actually just take this and cut it off right behind the nut and that would leave you with enough pipe to put a new angle stop on without any issue but if you didn't have the clearance back here well once again a mini hack comes into play right because this is a small tight space usually back behind a toilet or under a sink and you're not going to put a hex on here and then what you want to do is you just want to make a slit in this try not to damage the copper sawing just getting the brass don't go too far so then I just usually grab my trusty six in one get down in this little crack right here and just boom not just cracked you see that so that's able to pop right off just saw it until you can crack it so I actually did barely Nick that pipe right there you don't have to go all the way down till you see copper this is a non-ferrous metal it's pretty malleable it's gonna Bend pretty easy and you can pry it right apart little piece of Emery cloth and that buffed right out now you're able to move your old ring you're able to slap your new stop on there and tighten her down that's one of the many ways this little hacksaw helps me out now let's check this bad boy out right solid metal Construction the change out of the blade on this is actually quite easy you just take this handle screw it counterclockwise and this bad boy just pops off you're able to change it out really easy I like this version better because it's more like a regular hacksaw and it's not like that that cheaper version of just the one metal piece that you have to bend and hold it to put this in I feel like the fact that you're able to tighten this up if it gets loose actually helps your blades last longer since I have switched to this model of mini hacksaw I've gone through blades a lot less I wish I could tell you the date that I bought these replacement blades I feel like it's been years and years and years ago and I still have a couple left because really once I switch to this style I just haven't had to use them I feel like I get so many more cuts out of this style so that's what I have for you today and it's going in the bucket so this is a great little tight space tool right I hope you guys are enjoying these videos right as I'm adding more tools to my bucket I promise I'm gonna get back to work the shoulder started to feel a little bit better we're gonna get there I really hope you folks are enjoying the videos if you can please subscribe click that like button like this over on Facebook tell some friends we'd love to have you keep coming back thank you very much and we'll see you again real soon I tell you what these little doll angle stops man these are bricks they are awesome they they are a very cool valve so I was really excited to find these
