Elevate Baseboards for Masking

What happens here

Begin by cutting a piece of durable, rigid material such as Xboard or RamBoard to a suitable length. This material acts as a temporary spacer. When installing new baseboards, place this spacer material directly on the finished flooring, pushed against the wall where the baseboard will be mounted. Then, position the baseboard on top of this spacer material and secure it to the wall using your preferred method (e.g., nail gun). The thickness of the Xboard or RamBoard will create a consistent, slight elevation for the baseboard, leaving a small gap between the bottom edge of the baseboard and the finished floor. Once the baseboard is securely installed, remove the temporary spacer. This gap will be essential for subsequent painting.
