Mount the Ledger Beam to the House
At 0:51 in
This roof is really starting to take shape!!
What happens here
Utilize the material lift to carefully hoist a very long and heavy wooden beam, designated as the ledger beam, into its final position against the house wall. Ensure the beam is precisely aligned to sit level on top of the main support posts and flush against the house structure. Once positioned, use metal structural connectors, such as angle brackets or specialized ledger connection hardware, to securely fasten this beam. Temporarily secure it with clamps if needed. Use a hammer for minor adjustments and to tap connectors into place. Then, employ an impact driver to drive large structural screws or lag bolts through the metal connectors and deeply into both the ledger beam, the main support posts, and the house framing (ensure you hit studs or rim joists). This step creates a crucial and strong attachment point for the rest of the pavilion's roof structure.
Goal: Securely attach the main ledger beam to the house wall and the pavilion posts.
