This deck ain’t ground level, it’s GROUNDBREAKING 😮‍💨 #framing #lumber #deck #deckdesign #framers

What happens here

With the main joists secured, it's time to install any additional long wooden boards, such as blocking between joists or a secondary rim joist. This often requires teamwork. Several individuals will coordinate to lift and position these long, heavy boards across the span of the joists. Ensure these boards are aligned straight and square with the overall deck frame. Use measuring tapes and chalk lines to mark precise locations, and temporarily clamp them if necessary before permanently fastening them with screws or nails.

Goal: Add long structural boards for frame rigidity and stability

Tools and materials

  • Chalk Line — Marking straight lines for board alignment over long distances
  • Clamps — Temporarily holding boards in place before permanent fastening
  • Long Wooden Boards — Creating blocking between joists or adding additional rim joists for structural integrity
  • Measuring Tape — Accurately measuring board lengths and spacing
