Assemble Mitered Corner Sections

They don't call me the pocket hole master for nothing...
What happens here
To create strong mitered corner sections, apply a thin bead of waterproof exterior wood glue along the mitered edges of two composite decking pieces. Immediately after applying the glue, spray a glue accelerator (activator) onto one of the glued surfaces. This will significantly speed up the curing time of the glue. Carefully align and press the two mitered pieces together, holding them firmly. While holding them, use a cordless drill with a driver bit to drive pocket-hole screws through the pre-drilled pocket holes on the underside of one piece into the adjacent piece, securing the corner joint. Repeat this process for all mitered corner sections required for the stair treads.
Goal: Securely join mitered decking pieces to form corner sections
Tools and materials
- Clamps — Temporarily holding pieces together for initial alignment
- Cordless Drill DeWalt — Driving pocket-hole screws to secure the joints
- Driver Bit — Fitting into the head of the pocket-hole screws
- Composite Decking Boards — The pieces being joined to form the corner sections
- Glue Accelerator Spray — Rapidly curing the wood glue for quick assembly
- Pocket-Hole Screws Kreg — Reinforcing the glued mitered joints for structural integrity
- Waterproof Exterior Wood Glue — Creating a strong bond between the composite decking pieces
