What happens here

This video documents the delivery and unloading of various types of lumber and posts for an upcoming farm fence installation project. The speaker explains the challenges of unloading heavy materials on wet, soft ground and introduces the scope of the project, which involves building a four-board Kentucky-style fence around the farm's perimeter and new pond area, as well as constructing corrals for cattle.

whoo morning guys moving and shaking on a farm this morning man I've got the John Deere 5065 all set up right here with the pallet forks the drone is in this hand and I've got a truck driver coming in here in just a few minutes I've got a semi truck with a 50-something foot trailer coming in here gonna be turning around on this new spot that you probably saw us build I guess it was last week so we're gonna be unloading a truck load of lumber today I'll tell you a little bit about the plans for the future with what we've got going on so come along today first a little bit of footage you're gonna get is me unloading this truck it's really really windy out here right now so hopefully the drone can handle the wind and it's not so loud for you guys all right let's have some fun [Applause] [Music] alright guys welcome to the vlog today I've got some splainin to do right now so this tractor-trailer driver I spoke with him prior to him getting here to the house this turn is a slight uphill shot from the gate and the load on this tractor-trailer is behind the rear tires on the tractor itself so there's no traction going on right here this guy's hung up he couldn't get any traction in the gravel what he really probably needed to do it was get a little bit more momentum he was also afraid because just on the left hand side of the tractor trailer is a bit of a ditch and he was a little bit nervous about just going for it because the load here is stacked up pretty high it was about as high as a tractor would reach so just in his defense this was not his fault you probably see this text scrolling across but it's kind of interesting to watch he got all hung up there I came and met him talked to him and told him just to go ahead and back back out and we would unload in a different spot way over on the I guess back behind him right there so you'll see that here in just a second - and again I encourage you guys to post your opinions of what's going on here - he was a competent driver but he continued to try I guess he never gave up until I walked down there and you can see my tractor is probably 50 yards behind me walking down the driveway here and I met him and said hey they're just back on out so he started backing on out here my drone battery did not last through the entire unloading process but you'll get a little bit of the unloading process here and then we'll take you down and kind of show you what's going on but I'm in front of him right now and he's just kind of backing up to the spot it's so muddy and mucky as you see me pulling off of the gravel right here I start miring up really quickly so the creek is right there and it's just really really soft so this time of year the ground is really soft if it's not frozen it's mush and you can't run over it more than two or three times or you're just gonna make a big sloppy mud hole so that's what I was trying to avoid so he gets the tractor-trailer backed up in position here and this is actually a flatbed trailer with a cool cover over top of it you'll see them sliding it back here kind of sped that footage up and then we'll get it all unloaded it took me somewhere in the neighborhood of 45 minutes to unload all of this lumber each one of the bins or bundles excuse me weighed somewhere in the neighborhood of 2,000 pounds so we've got a big pile of lumber for building fences here on the farm and a beautiful fence getting ready to go up all right truck is leaving the wind is kind of calming down and we got a load a monstrous load of fence post now we were supposed to be unloading them right here and staging them kinda right out here in this parking area but it did not work out the load was too heavy and the ground was too wet for the trucker to get up the driveway so it wasn't his driving he was doing his best but he we get to a certain point he would start to spin so I told him exactly what to do it didn't work because it was just too wet so lesson learned you can't really do this in the wet let's go down there and we'll take a look at all the lumber that we have and we'll talk about this fencing project that's coming up here it's going to be a four board Kentucky board fence I guess is what you call it I don't know exactly what you call it what do you call it four board Kentucky like bluegrass type fence okay so we're down here the house is up at the top of the hill right here we're down here by the what we call it Creek or the other side of the farm and these are the posts so we've got several bundles of posts I think we have four or five bundles of line post right here and I believe these line posts yep they're a five by eight round turned post that's what we have down here and what we're going to be doing is fencing all the way along and I've got this question a ton so we have a gate right here to drive away we're gonna be fencing all the way along here right around where our new pond is right here and we're basically just going to make this place a beautiful beautiful farm you know when you pull in you're going to be just amazed like wow Matt that's what the goal is and not only to have a functional farm but to have a beautiful farm so right here all these are the fence boards and some of you guys might have opinions about this please share your opinions these are pressure-treated pine boards pressure-treated number one yellow pine everybody has opinions whether you use locust which is expensive and hard to get whether you use poplar which will fall apart in a few years in my opinion poplar is just a really soft hardwood it's just it just doesn't hold up like this pine this pine will take the tree just a little bit better and the next bundle over here is bigger posts so these are our corner posts these are 7 by 8 round posts pressure-treated posts and these will be used for when we make direction changes and also we'll be using this to help build some Corral systems for our cattle so lots of stuff moving and shaking here on the farm like a 7 we first came out the wind is still whipping like crazy guys it's just going to be a short vlog this is what's going on so we've got our corner post our board fence 6 inch board fence face boards and our line post awesome 5 inch line posts and all the fencing will be going right out through here now I have a fella that wants to come down and help me from Kentucky that builds these fences for these nice fancy horse tracks and stuff like that these places that raise these million-dollar horses so he's going to come and he's going to teach us how to build an awesome board fence a fence that'll last that's what's important so stick around on the channel guys please pound that like button subscribe the channel I hope you enjoyed this little vlog
