What happens here
This video details the process of receiving, unloading, and initially setting up a Hobart meat-cutting bandsaw. The presenter showcases the heavy-duty equipment, discusses its intended use for butchering wild game and livestock on his farm, and demonstrates the initial assembly of its components, including attaching specialized pallet forks to a tractor for safe unloading and installing casters for mobility. Although the video demonstrates setting up a powerful tool, it does not pertain to the 'Lawn & Garden > Lawn Care & Ground Maintenance' category as requested. Instead, it focuses on equipment for meat processing in a farming context.

(9,900 characters)hey there folks this is Josh Stoney Ridge farmer welcome back to the farm if you caught the last video we did you saw this thing sitting in the back of the truck and we told you we're going to show you so today's the day this is I'll give you ten seconds to put a guess down there in the video description what it is look at it look at it alright ten seconds is up this is a Hobart meat cutting bandsaw and what we're going to be doing in the future here on the farm is having a small butcher shop in order to butcher wild game deer and animals for our consumption here on the farm and also to come and teach classes on how to butcher animals on your own so you can save some money so today we're gonna unload this thing I got a huge deal on it will tell you all about that we'll get it off with the tractor here in just a minute we're gonna have some fun checking out this Hobart meat cutting bandsaw alright [Music] [Applause] okay guys so if you're new to the channel welcome to the Stoney Ridge farm please don't forget to pound that like button jump in and subscribe to the channel if you like this kind of content this is rural content at its best country boy stuff good time so this is a hoe part I don't know what the model is but I only paid 400 bucks for it my dad's got a hook-up at a friend who owns a used restaurant and new restaurant supply company we've got a couple trays and a few different things that we're going to be using here on the farm for processing our chickens and this will be for cutting up hams slicing deer meat in other words you can freeze the entire hindquarter and make deer steaks or deer chops however you want to use it that's what this is for so it's for our use we don't have a USDA inspected butcher shop if we ever do so beef or chicken off the farm or pork off the farm all that stuff will be butchered in a USDA inspected site but we'll be able to use this again for teaching classes and stuff so let's grab the John Deere 50 65 it's over here warming up we're gonna slap the pallet forks on it and I'm gonna unload this because it's just too heavy for me to pick up on my own it weighs about 400 pounds [Music] so before we get started before we unload everything before we hook up to our pallet forks I want to talk a little bit about this because you guys may or may not know this so John Deere has a proprietary attache for the front of the tractor in other words you can order it with the John Deere proprietary attachment that uses basically only John Deere implements or you'd have to get an adapter plate or he can order it with the skin steer quick attach this is the skin steer type quick attach and basically all this does this little piece right here is a flat piece of metal and it gets up underneath an attachment like this in my opinion you'd almost be a fool to not buy I don't care what brand tractor you buy but to not buy a tractor with a skid steer type quick attach because most attachments are gonna be skid steer type you will totally limit yourself if you're buying a proprietary type attachment and I don't care who hears it that's just what I think and that's what works for me if you want to go buy attachments you're gonna have a harder time finding attachments for the front of your tractor that our John Deere specific or specific to a specific brand of tractor so what you want to do is buy a tractor with the skid steer quick attach and you won't have to do any adapter plates or anything like that just my two cents but I thought I explained it to you the way this works is I'm going to lift it up on here right now because of right here on it so that's mounted up and then there are two left and one lever here and one lever here so I'm going to go raise the bucket up and we'll close those levers down and this will be firmly attached to the tractor [Applause] that's a little bit about tractors if you don't know a lot about tractors well now you know something guys post some comments down there tell me what you think do you think of skid steer quick attaches better'n do you think the John Deere proprietary systems better let me know [Applause] I gotta get it in a specific angle or it's gonna topple over so we're going to unload it but due to how cumbersome it is I'm going ahead with Lowe's and I got these wheels basically the casters will sit down or the feet will sit down in these wheels and it's like a three wheel system so I'll put these under the feet so we can easily move it around the shop until we get the butcher shop all set up [Applause] let's go put the tractor up pull out the generator plug this thing in fire it up and see if it runs [Applause] all right before we go over the machine and show you everything I want to see if it works that's my biggest thing does it work for hundred bucks this is like a $3,000 used probably $10,000 brand-new so SuperDuper happy with the purchase and it came with a guarantee that it works so you can't even beat that man if this is three-phase I may have to take the motor and have it rewound I'm gonna lean on you guys for advice for that if you do electrical stuff you do electrical work how hard would it be for me to rewire this motor just to run it on 220 or even run it on 110 so I could plug it into a standard house outlet 30 amps is a whole lot so I would assume that 220 would probably save me a little bit of electricity so let's plug it at the generator and see what happens oh don't blow anything up no sir wrong plug I actually took the cover plate off of the motor and it says three-face in other words I think this runs on 480 not 220 but it looks like the motor is capable of running on 110 220 or 480 okay we're gonna put this thing together and I'll show you everything about it and I think we're gonna rewire it in another video but let me show you what it's all about alright so inside here is the band the band saw part of this machine everything spins nice and freely nothing shows we're really down here in this machine and some parts that might where would be these little clips that are used for cleaning the blade there's one here and there's one down inside here we'll get you a look down inside it here in just a second but basically there are two wheels right here that spin around there's some adjustments that you can make to loosen and/or tighten the band and the bandsaw blade is actually going around this right here so that's the blade right there now there's a few things I need to do to assemble this and I'll show you how it all kind of goes together back up here a little bit there's actually a tiny sightglass right in here let me roll it back over here so there's a tiny sightglass in here with some measurements so you can make adjustments to how tight you want your blade to be so there's all sorts of infinite adjustments this is a big time commercial piece of equipment right here great deal on it for sure even if it doesn't work just buying a new motor for it hands down it's still a great deal alright this is the cover for this section and all this removed so that you can clean it really good with hot water when you get done that covers that this right here is the table portion and it slides right in here just like so and it drops down right there and you've got some measurements right here and then there's a slide that goes on so the slide has a little pull tab right here for locking it into position or keeping it from rolling all the way off of the machine and these little tabs right here also hold it in place you'll get a lot more of this as time goes on here on the farm so we'll slide this guy hopefully let's look down below now down in here is a compartment where your meat shavings or bone meal might fall down right there which is great snacks for the chickens for sure and this has a door that slips on it also and again this thing is made so that you can clean it really easily with hot water okay underneath here is the motor and it's a GE motor basically the motor turns the blade and that turns everything and that's it that's how it works so there's just a little bit of wiring that I need to do in here my brother is an electrician and I was an electrician in the Air Force so shouldn't be any trouble to figure this out hopefully we fire it up and we slice that good country ham I've got it stuck back in the freezer so it's easier to slice if you freeze meat or have it really really cold it's much easier to slice with a bandsaw I'm going to take it up top one more time and we'll show you exactly how this thing is going to work so on this plate there are some numbers right here this sets down and basically you adjust this to where you want your meat just like so you twist it to how thick you want your meat and that's where your measurements come into play and then tighten it down right there that holds it in position so if you want roast you would want it wider if you want steaks about that thick then you'd make a little bit thicker and you put your piece of meat on this section right here in this slide and push it right through so thanks a lot guys I hope you enjoyed this little video I like showing your cool tools this is gonna be an awesome tool to have here on the farm something we break out once or twice a year until we get the butcher shop up and running and then we'll be able to cut meat for friends I don't know we'll see we'll see where it goes from here who knows but for sure we want our own butcher shop so we can have butchering classes here on the farm for the YouTube channel that would be SuperDuper awesome thanks a lot for joining me here on the farm guys please pound that like button subscribe the channel we got 200 acres a beautiful farmland here in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina and we're sharing it with you thanks a lot see you next time home of the brave I'm proud of Who I am I'm made on a story [Music]
