The Most DIFFICULT Bathroom Build I've Ever Done
What happens here
Begin by preparing the thin-set mortar according to the manufacturer's instructions, ensuring a consistent, workable consistency. Apply a uniform layer of thin-set to the backer board on the shower walls and sloped ceiling using a notched trowel. Carefully unroll and press the orange Schluter Kerdi membrane onto the thin-set, working from top to bottom and ensuring there are no air bubbles or wrinkles. Use a flat trowel or float to embed the membrane fully into the thin-set. Overlap all seams by at least 2 inches (5 cm) and apply thin-set beneath the overlap to create a robust seal. Ensure the membrane extends from the top of the tub flange up to the ceiling, covering all areas that will be exposed to water.
Goal: Install the Schluter Kerdi waterproofing membrane on all shower walls and sloped ceilings using thin-set mortar to create a watertight barrier.
