What happens here

After preparing the opening, carefully remove the pre-hung door unit from its packaging. Lift the door unit and place it into the rough opening. Center the door unit within the opening, ensuring there's a consistent gap on both sides and at the top. Use a carpenter's level to check if the hinge-side jamb is plumb (vertically straight). If necessary, tap shims (wooden or composite wedges) between the rough framing and the jamb behind the hinges to achieve perfect plumb. Once the hinge side is plumb, lightly nail the hinge-side jamb into the rough opening through the shims.

Goal: Position the door in the opening and plumb the hinge-side jamb.
