my gift card so that's what we got McKenna for so if we got problems yeah do you water down acrylic paint when using a 3/10 tip I sprayed a front door had some spit so when I'm using an airless sprayer I never water down with my pain ever so not 18 years when I use an HVLP sprayer I'm typically always watering my paints down so well dip is from India thanks for being happy this I think it glasses that you want a gratis glasses you'll ever wear any experience with scuff X paint yeah so scum fix paint actually works pretty good you know it's a it's a good paint so had some experience with it and actually so and it actually is a scuff resistant paint and you know covers well hides well same thing but it's it's a good product so this says Darrin says when said people mask up then drip paint off what do you do so it sounds like when you're ripping the masking and it takes to paint off is it there you wait until you don't wait till it's dry yes code breaking so the pain is bridging so it rips so that's not a good bridge in sharks teeth and so you're gonna have to go back and touch it up that's why you know we always pour masking before the paint dries and if for some reason you can't pull it before it dries you need to score it with a sharp knife before you remove it so and if it bridges then you're just gonna have to go back and touch it up and sometimes it is it common it's common I don't think Graco would be in business so but Greco does have a good technical support I had an issue with my Graco ultra used if about 20 gallons but I think there people are using them misusing them using them too much not for what they are intended for there's small project sprayers and the little tiny pump inside literally it's this big wears out really fast Greco is pretty good at replacing things if you call up their customers customer support probably not now because of this whole virus thing but they were typically answer it you're typically gonna get somebody you can understand in English and it'll send you out a new part or whatever take care of it they've been pretty good what I'd call them so I was work with being campaigning so know everybody's been shut down around here we've been there slowly I'm allowed to go back to work is now painting just recently I think last week was beamed essential service how that works I don't know so Bob Fennessy says I painted a hallway got some flash above to the doorways actor coat did not eliminate the posh it is a light knockdown texture of suggestions I'll make that again I mean it says I painted a hallway and got some flash about two of the doorways I'm not sure what if he's if you sprayed if he rolled if you talk about flashing from painting the trim and getting the trim paint onto the wall always this really difficult no matter what you do because of the way the lighting goes down the hallway so hallways are always gonna you know show up all your your mistakes and your all your cardinal sins when it comes to painting not keeping a wet edge or not using the proper tip and getting too close to the wall having a hard head one thing use on a hallway make sure you use an H a tip which gives a feathered edge keep if you're spraying keep a really really wet edge overlap but you've got to stand back far enough when you're spraying in a hallway and above the doorway you know it starts to get difficult working around doorways and stuff but I'm not I can't really give a good advice because I don't we need a little more information so one person sighs the easiest way to paint a ceiling Jose the easiest way to paint a ceiling RIA is to spray it that's the fastest and easy way and use a Titan 6 1988 tip because it gives a feathered edge you're not getting more likely not going to get flashing and lap marks if you use it in a cheetah so let me read the question it's going to answer I'm handing a house over here in Florida I'm using a 440 with the original tip what tip should I use to paint doors 310 or yeah 310 so what I'm spraying trim and doors I'm typically always used in a 310 if I got a lot of doors to do in what I was doing new construction when you're painting 2030 doors sometimes 50 at a time how would use with 510 you got a wider fan you could be able to do your doors faster if I got you have three four doors to do one door to do I'm just gonna use a three ten because it's the most versatile and this could be a fine finish tip so a fine finish three ten John no brown bear painting what's up Ruben process do you have an easy texture gun we do we sell them in our store what is it stored on the Idaho Perico so we sell that gun that easy texture gun in our story ok so ok tell me about the wall putty application I'm not sure what you want to know about ok I have videos on it but go ahead Ron Rawls yes so we are really but Ron is with us what's your opinion on emerald urethane for cabinets I've had issues when I [ __ ] after priming I think I need to prime over caulking so I personally wouldn't use the emerald your thing is one of the best trim paints you know I've ever used but I wouldn't use it on cabinets I think it's I mean if you're not going to use like an industrial type coating really design for cabinets and stuff like red or makes a really good one I've been testing one from CIC that's a good one you know emerald is is it's a decent cabinet coating but it's not gonna give you that industrial type you know finish like that like finish like it came out of but that's what is using talking and priming so emerald your thing you know it will stick to anything it's gonna stick to your skin and not come off I would be very comfortable I'm cleaning my cabinets with Dawn dish so then I would sand them with a nakasang sander a 3x4 sander always created on a mechanical bond so sanding with a Equis and Sandra cousin I'm so good three by four and the the sponge sponge sanding pads will contour to the profile makes a mean fast and easy and then I would spray it with emerald urethane and I would probably use a brand new 310 test so his question was about caulking and priming did you even answer that so I wouldn't pry it Sam I do [ __ ] um would I [ __ ] what the floating panels I went so coughing so you have the option and so I've talked this over the years I have a video on caulking floating panels and if you're doing if you're using emerald your thing I would be comfortable you know caulking the floating panels if you're using a hard lacquer coating even in our climate I would no longer be comfortable talking a floating panel but with an acrylic product like you know emerald urethane you're a same type product or so that's more flexible if you're a painting it was solo of you're painting with pro classic you know I would be comfortable talking them but in you know possibly I would probably be comfortable talking them with Rena 851 that's what I would highly recommend painting your canvas with but if you're using a locker I would not call them so William grime says are you going to be restocking the flexible hose whips we have we have we have hundreds of us store dot the Idaho painter I have one or six hundred of them in stock so we have got you covered when it comes to our hose whip so we got three foot 5/5 and 25 foot hose whips and I'm okay if people like understand the advantage of a 25 foot hose whip so explain I'll explain so a 25 foot so a hose whip to begin with if the inside diameter of the hose is smaller so it takes up less paint on a 25 foot hose versus a 50 foot hose or a 25 foot hose standard hose it takes less paint a load off and then a standard 25 foot hose or 50 foot hose is extremely not flexible and hard to manipulate you put a hose whip on the end of every single hose you have attached to your gun but a 25 foot hose whip that we sell the custom ones the green ones eliminates the need for a 3 or 5 foot hose whip and it makes a short hose for span doors because we always have one spray or some of just four doors and if you only got a gallon if you got a half a gallon or even a cord you could almost load up a quart into a parentless sprayer with a 25 foot hose whip because the inside diameters is smaller the length is shorter and because you typically can't buy standard hoses at 25 foot their 50 foot are longer so now you get a short hose use it for some small projects on garage door regular doors like that and now it's gonna be extremely flexible it's not gonna wear you out from Spain with it all day long so so I'm Bob said he rolled the hallway and use have been flashing above the doors yeah if you roll the hallway so you're gonna be working down the hallway and you just I mean how's your working up to the door and how you're getting to the top you've got to continue to keep a wet edge and you really have to one of the things I noticed from the beginners the people that we hire and teach start teaching them how to paint the most common mistake is not dipping your roller a knob I just created a video how to properly roll a wall and it was probably it's whip it in the last month I believe and if you watch that video look how often I dip my roller and unload it on the wall and keep dipping it that's and that's gonna be the thing that's going to cause flashing the most you have to continue down the hallway and you have to continue keeping a wet edge and keep you know laying out you to paint too and hallways are difficult because you know they're tight close quarters they're probably going to be warmer you know then the rest of the house that turned the temperature down so the paint don't dry so fast and just really load on the pain we mean by flashing so flashing if you if you here's one example of flashing if you look down a hallway and you spraying the hallway and you're going you vertically up and down when it's all dried you're gonna look down the hallway and you're gonna see these lap marks going up and down the hallway and those are what we would call flashing and there's some things a lot of things that could cause flashing it cannot be the painter it could be texture flashing from the texture guy yo spraying vertically going down the hallway so you're gonna see those strike marks going down the hallway you're gonna see that same type of thing on a ceiling if you're not keeping a wet edge you can see flashing caused by the sprayer so wherever you know the direction of the roller is going because you're not keeping a wet edge and you're stippling it stippling will cost flashing because you're laying out your paint when it's like starting to dry and so you're pulling on the paint creating you know peaks and valleys and causing stippling flashing there's a lot of things that cause flashing and it's the unevenness in the look of the paint and sometimes that can be color sometimes it could be texture and different varying things so I'm Brandon says I've done cabinets for my customer I use Benjamin Moore advance semi-gloss and it kept orange peeling I put three coats on it and I used a 210 F FLP yeah so thank you very much Hans somebody gave us a super job appreciate it very much so I am so yeah so orange peeling there's there's a lot of different things that could cause that and so some of it could be your pressure is too low you know on your sprayer because you're spraying it with a HVLP sprayer I painted a lot of cabinets over the years and if everything is done right you should not get an orange peel textures to it so the pressures got to be typically cranked up pretty high if it's 2,200 psi or lower you're probably gonna get an eggshell II finish to it if you're not using the right tip so you want to have a fine finish tip but I'll tell you what nowadays Titans FLP tips are not good for getting a really fine finish they have a tendency to send out the droplets of paint even though it's a demising it the droplets are too big so it doesn't lay it out well enough and I can't stand them that the fine finish tips that tire Graco had before ffs LP were they were just FFF tips they produced a finer finish and the healthy tips can't stand the healthy tips I would never use and have that thought we tend to do cabinets I probably site to go into like Titans purple tips for getting a buying finish so yo check pressure pressures got to be cranked up pretty high to get I'm really good at amis ation of the paint just since I'm too far too close can cause an issue so be aware of your distance but I would probably say more likely you know it's it's gonna be a pressure issue there are some products that don't like to be sprayed you know very much and sometimes you have to thin them out I wouldn't let me see somebody else gave us Bob Bob Fennessy gave us a super shot - thank you very much oh so I'm the flashing so yeah that's so cool so uh yeah so um I would that be the last resort I probably still wouldn't I wouldn't be comfortable especially if they need my paints on cabinet painting so I know that product he's using is a pretty good cabinet product and shouldn't be thought needed to be thin but it could be related to tip I'd be curious to know what tip he was using so so Randy's he was talking about he talked the corners after priming and then a year later having painted three top coats a cracked on the caulking line yeah so the the primer itself if you're priming over the top of the caulking the primer is not gonna be very flexible so the primer you know there are obviously has a good chance of of cracking and so here's another thing in it all comes down to climate too and this is something you have to be very wary of and here in our climate Boise Idaho it's a very dry climate very high and then likely because it's so dry you're not going to have so much expansion or contraction from summer to winter and then also the people keep you know the house at a consistent temperature it's less likely to expand and contract but you know if you're living on the coast somewhere because of the the moisture content humidity levels highly not recommended to [ __ ] your cabinet panels and stuff so you can get away with it at Boise Idaho and we've done it for years with a lot of big success but now if you go to you know like Michigan or stuff like that it probably wouldn't be you know talking on the panel so and then it depends you know to that the talking I love talking that you use in when you when you [ __ ] it your caulking has to be completely cured when we talk we use them a caulking called vault and so it was quick dry and so you can paint over it with an hour if you're not using a quick dry you know caulking and you paint over it too soon and you're definitely gonna get some curing issues and it's gonna crawl and it's gonna crack so I'm thinking caulking is my favorite word so it always it's funny when I go back and watch the videos it's with the way I say it it comes off kind of funny so yeah that is they can do like on Saturday Night Live I think they did it one time did a spoof on caulking so this so that's what are you interesting so Jack a liquor cabinet coat on cabinets well thinning with the HVLP number three neato Graco so yeah I don't like any thoughts so if you're spraying like anything with an HVLP sprayer number three needle is what I would be using but I'll tell you as let's seed with number five sticks you know you have to thin your products when you're spraying with an 80 lbs where there's nothing it's almost impossible to spray with the HVLP you know without thinning your problems I've never had any success about they mean it you need to get yourself you know a viscosity meter I now actually sell them my stories tell us on to viscosity meter I sell some other accessories you really should have when it comes to HVLP spray but you need to have the proper viscosity prior to ever spraying with an HVLP sprayer so two things are very critical is proper viscosity and temperature so the temperature product is pretty important because that's gonna change the face of viscosity pretty significantly but you're always and have more success you know when thinning your products when it comes to spraying within a GOP spirit that's the benefit to an airless and airless you never have to thin when spraying is just straight out of the can so see what's let's see also Meg elastic from white lightning caulking so megalast is a really good product so Brandon Mitchell says that when you finish a cabinet with lacquer lacquer how many people how many people do you bring and how do you price the job so so Jim Knowles is asking that so typically a cabinet job word in and out of a standard average sized kitchen two days we can be in and out of two days its second day you know we come back and do some final adjustments and stuff like that and we typically have you four guys is pretty ideal to get a set of kitchen cabinets done in two days so in the pricing your pricing fluctuates you know according there's a lot of variables it causes the fluctuate but a very good starting point to estimating kitchen cabinets and like estimating across the board I try to make things very very simple and easy to do and so you can make it complicated but I've come up with you know in it works 90% of the time it's $135 per door & drawer front so I don't differentiate between the two of them I used to in the past but I mean it's the same…
