What happens here

The mini loader (Carbon 33T) is brought into the work area to efficiently move the removed rock and debris. The crew utilizes the loader's bucket to scoop up the material, carefully navigating the tight space between the house and the existing landscaping. They transport the rock to a designated area for sorting, separating the cleaner material from the mixed debris. The presenter emphasizes the importance of 'job costing' – meticulously tracking all expenses, including equipment usage, labor hours, and material costs, to ensure accurate future project estimates and profitability. They highlight the advantages of using specialized equipment like the mini loader to minimize turf damage and maximize efficiency, which can lead to winning more bids.

Goal: Remove and relocate settled rock and soil from around the foundation.

up and work [Music] so [Music] there's a number of factors that go into the initial estimate when we're first looking at a project the easiest is the material cost what is that going to range but there's two other factors that oftentimes get overlooked or miscalculated one of them that really impacts guys and they don't know what until the end of the year is overhead not calculating your overhead on a daily basis can really bite a guy in the butt and not correctly guesstimating your labor hours on a project can also hurt a guy but there's a way around both of these and it's called job costing and what you want to do we're actually going to job cost this at the end of this series but a quick synopsis of what job costing is is you get into a job and you keep track of every single expense on that project and one of the most important expenses to keep a close watch on is how long it takes to do that job because however long it takes to do that job is going to be your estimate for the next time you do something even slightly similar to what you're doing when you did the job costing every single project should be job costed because the more you do job costing the more accurate your numbers are and the less you be guessing on your estimates job costing is one of those things that i can't recommend enough [Music] [Applause] [Music] whoa whoa whoa dirt monkey you didn't get all that rock out of there that's a sloppy job okay well technically what we left behind was the dirty rock we don't want to put this back in so we shaved off all of the clean rocks and this will get reused but look how much the grades have settled here just look at this that is i mean that from here down now we don't we're not going to go back up to there and the reason we're not going to go back up to that point is because we want everything to flow this way and this way so technically what we wanted to do is come right to there and then to come down to here and this rock right here this dirty rock what we're going to do with that is that it can just get re-incorporated right back in structural fill soils there's nothing going to be wrong with reusing some of that but we've shaved off all the stuff that we can reuse and this isn't worth the bother of what do you think this is a two wheel barrel full it's not worth the bother trying to clean it and to throw it back in with the dirty with the clean rock and it'll just make it all look dirty and then we got organic matter sifted into the top so…
