NEW RAM and JEEP Trucks. work Truck week day #5

welcome to work truck week you guys we've been covering brand new work trucks all week long and my definition of a work truck is anything that helps you do your work pays your bills and helps you make a living is a work truck in my book and with that being said we've covered ford chevy gmc we've covered big trucks little trucks things like nissan frontier we even covered a hyundai truck but today we're going to be looking at two trucks in particular the ram work truck and also jeep as a work truck so without wasting more time let's dive right into today's video and meet our next guest contestant all right all right let's go see if we can't find somebody that can help us look at a jeep truck jordan the jeep guy jordan the jeep guy so show me a jeep truck and walk me through it because i'm just looking at what's the differences in trucks out there available to these guys as options so we got a couple down here right now this is the jeep cloudy here now most all the gladiators are down here are all going to be the v6 this one's kind of unique in that it's specially tuned for desert racing so you have dual shocks you have a different type of tuning on the engine this one actually accelerates more so than like the rubicons or some of the other trim levels that are out there a lot of fun actually smoother drive on the street than some of the higher end ones it's like the sister model to the rubicon it'll still do off-road trails it'll still do a mild rock climbing but it's not gonna do the the big rock climbing that say the rubicons are so the rubicon is the next level up for aggressive off-roading it's gonna be sister level so this has been for the sand and the rubicon's bed for the rocks oh oh okay okay all right how about the one that's meant to go down to the lumber yard and pick up your wood and your brick and bring it out to your job site and make a living for it that would be any gladiator so they're all all the gliders are gonna be the same size they're all gonna be four door five seat with a five four bed all of them have a adjustable tailgate you have a three position tailgate in the back it comes all the way down or let's say you need to pull some some two by fours you can put the straps in there mount this at about a 45 degree angle these little indents right here and here are made so you can put some two by fours in there and throw your plywood down oh how nice they thought of everything how do you think they did they think about making a bigger bed um any of them have a bigger bed none of them have a big bed so all the gladiators on the market right now are all gonna be the same four five five by four yeah okay so five five foot long four foot wide what is a what does a truck like this go for jordan that you've got so these are gonna be somewhere or i can show you the window sticker right around the corner here so this one has equipped me right in the mid 50s okay what's the availability like um so right now gladiators aren't too bad to find on the local market as a dealer we've seen um pretty good turnaround as far as them getting us stock but depending on what you want right now there's been more custom ordering than any any time before um so we do it a lot of that so it kind of depends on what you're looking for but i sell gladiators off the lot all the time do you sell any ram trucks well can you walk me through a ram truck with a new one damn it where were you when i was trying to figure out all these [Laughter] all right so let's go take a look at one of the new ram trucks i want to just understand what they've changed on the ram okay work trucks i understand she was walking me through and i wasn't picking it up uh jordan the jeep guy she was uh she was telling me that they got this new eco diesel thing that has a generator on the top of it and it doesn't have an alternator and i'm trying to wash rinse and repeat it and blah blah blah so here we go this is your diesel okay pop the hood here now this is the highest level trim package this is the limited this is the special edition 40th anniversary i believe it's called okay or no wait 10th anniversary 10th anniversary okay most people don't know that dodge hasn't made trucks for over 10 years what do you mean dodge hasn't made trucks in over 10 years i'll give you a thousand dollars right now if you can find the word dodge on the truck well i know it's a ram but i mean so are you saying mr brandt's sister brand okay ram has been its own brand this is a common thing on the market that we we run into all the time ram has been its own brand for over 10 years 10 years okay so this is the ecodiesel now what she was talking about was probably the etorque system which is actually in the v8s that's right there that's right there so the ecodiesel is the third generation diesel version for the half tons um it's got its turbo diesel engine inline six it puts out a ton of torque this one it does amazing fuel economy i've been really impressed and my customers as well have been very impressed with the range that you get out of these vehicles um and incredible amount of power and what's cool about them unfortunately i can't start it up for you right now is the noise they sound actually probably about the same level of noise is what you hear with the hemis 31 miles per gallon is what i was told does that sound about right that sounds about right yep okay okay what are the available engine models uh what are the engines available in the half tons you've got your v6 pentastar and that's going to come standard with e-torque you have the 57 v8 hemi and that can available with or without e-torque and now that's the same price either way i'll go into e-torque more in a second if you want me to and then you have the the eco diesel and then special edition is the trx which is your auxiliary half time that's your 6.2 liter what if i turbo charger or one ton one tons uh so all the heavy duties you have a 6.4 liter uh 392 hemi v8 or you can do in the three-quarter ton you can also do the the cummins diesel in the wonton you can get the high output version of that too which is going to just raise the towing and payload capacity of that cummins diesel okay eco diesel is that eve available in the is that only in the half ton right now yeah okay can we can you show us it and walk us through it yeah if they made any changes on the inside of the truck the biggest update was back in 2019 when the new body style came out and that's the one that's won all the awards it's been trucker year going on almost four years now the most the biggest shake up in the truck industry so this one's got a cover on it right now but the etorque system is actually you can see it's right down there in the middle where i'm pointing so that's what replaces the alternator it does dual duty it's really not a new concept as far as the technology goes um it's basically just a reverse generator so it serves like an alternator when the engine's running to create power for all the electrical components in the vehicle but what actually was a change was the 48 volt battery which on this vehicle is mounted behind the back passenger bench and what that does is it stores power and when your vehicle is taken off you use the most of your power from the engine overcoming inertia so your first quarter turn of the wheel sorry of the tire is actually fully electric to help get things going and then from about zero to 20 miles an hour it's going to assist the engine to help accelerate and build that momentum it can with the v8 it can produce over 100 pounds of torque just completely electrically and so after that it does a seamless handoff as it gets that momentum going to get the uh the engine up to speed and then the engine takes over and then during that process the the the generator as it's running it recharges itself it's not a plug-in it's a mild hybrid system so there's really nothing to mess with the other big benefit of that is you have regenerative braking on these trucks as well so they can use that regenerative braking just like the hybrids and i don't really need to go into all the uh details on what that is but most people know so that's going to extend the life of the brake pads as well because you can use that and that energy that's captured feeds back into that 48 volt battery damn thank you jordan that is awesome so what else should we know about these trucks that have been changed or modified or updated and i'm really more interested in the 25s and 3500s we've covered these now is there any other changes with those or does everything start with these and then kind of the next year go up to those because that's what i was told with chevy and gmc off camera so i will say that from model year to model year you see a lot of similarities as far as certain features that you know for 2021 2022 there's consistency i would say the biggest thing and this is started back in 2022 on and it's affected actually all trim levels all right is inside is the uconnect system so this truck has the the 12 inch screen unfortunately i don't have power to power it up but which we've had before that's that's been out since 2019 this is standard in the limiteds it's available in the laramies and up um but the biggest thing is uh uconnect 5. uconn x5 is a big upgrade um and it's available on all the ram trucks now on all the new body style it's not available in the in the classics yet but that probably will be coming um but the uconnect five is five times faster than the uconnect four which is the previous generation um it supports wireless apple carplay android auto for those that have built-in navigation it runs on tomtom it's a lot smoother a lot quicker and also the um it can support and this is actually something that's been there before it can support a wireless hot spots if you have kids and stuff in the car it'll support all that and that is obviously an upgrade correct that is a big upgrade from the previous generations it's not available in all the vehicles in the family yet it is available in 2022 and newer rams hey what is the availability um so right now for most ordering that i've seen for half tons usual lead time depending on equipment to order averages about three to four months heavy duties are probably five to six months depending on an equipment on that um but i will tell you uh just about a week ago uh we switched over and you're gonna see more of the switching across the models to certain things um this is first affected jeeps and then you're gonna see uh 2023 orderings happening soon because we're getting to the end of the 2022 model year they're just about to call the uh last call on that for for capacity so if you're depending on when people are looking to order um if they get in pretty quickly they'll get on the last end of the 2022's they're going to finish up those builds otherwise once they hit that cut off they'll be ordering 20 23 and those have to wait till they start production for those which they'll wrap up all the old stuff first okay so so you couldn't get it till next year at some point uh depends on the truck i mean most most vehicles it's may right now if you order right now you're gonna get your vehicle before the end of the year before the end of the year so may so eight months yeah i mean i wouldn't say eight i won't say eight months necessarily half times i would say probably maybe given an extra month on there on average so maybe four to five months four to five months yep that's yeah yeah that's what you said okay okay that would be my personal opinion on that hey if guys wanted to find you because you've been helpful to us how would they reach out and flimsiest body of any truck i've ever ran anywhere we looked at two rams right there and i'm sitting i'm i'm parked in my ford let's go see if we've got hail damage on that bad boy and let's not cut all right you can speed this up dan the man but let's go find out if i've got hail damage you can see all the hail damage this one got hail damaged there's a chevy huh yep yep hail damage hail damage that's really that's really thick boom boom there there big one there hail here these guys were sitting right beside me in the hail storm there i think they got it worse but i can see it one two oh
