Discovering an Undocumented Sanitary Line Under the Pool

What happens here
During the demolition of the swimming pool's shallow end, a critical discovery was made: a sanitary line was buried directly beneath the pool. This was problematic because sanitary lines in Minnesota must be approximately 8 feet deep for frost protection, but this line was less than 4 feet deep and directly connected to the concrete, making it vulnerable to freezing. Furthermore, the official utility 'locate request' indicated 'Clear No Conflict' for a sanitary line in that area, and the property owner had initially stated the line came from the front of the house, not the back where the pool was. This created a significant unexpected challenge, conflicting information, and a potentially dangerous and non-compliant installation.
Goal: Identify and assess a major, unforeseen underground utility conflict.
