If inclement weather, particularly rain, is forecast, it is essential to protect the construction site. Cover open trenches, newly laid block courses, and piles of exposed soil with heavy-duty tarps. Secure the tarps with weights, ropes, or sandbags to prevent them from blowing away. This protects the integrity of the work in progress, prevents soil erosion, and avoids mud accumulation that could delay future work.
