Understand Knockdown Texture

[Music] this is paint Life TV I'm the Ido painter and I'm journeyman John and we're here we're going to be talking about texturing walls we've got a texture machine right here this is the Graco Tech spray RTX RTX 1250 and we're texturing some walls we did wallpaper removal these wall these walls had some wallpaper on them we removed it using a steamer M and underneath them they were oil primed they were so they came off relatively easy not the easiest but you know you can't complain but like most of the time we remove wallpaper typically the walls are going to be smooth under there or we're going to have a lot of damage we going to have to retexture them and we have a texture a knockdown texture on this house right here John what what is a knockdown texture a knockdown texture is like an orange peel texture that uh what you'll do is you'll spray that texture on heavier than you would an orange peel maybe a little bit more in consistently and then you're going to take either a large knockdown knife or we'll end up using seen a just a 12in taping knife here uh to basically knock uh little plateaus over the top of all of those bumps and it creates just kind of a a finish that covers it's a little bit different than a an orange
