FAST Cabinet Painting... AMAZING Drying and Spraying System!

this is paint Life TV I'm Chris Idaho painter and I'm journeyman John and we're here to educate and Empower and equip you and we're going to do that right now with a tool we got behind us yeah so we recently have kind of uh really taken on cabinets as a part of of the painting business and we've developed a system over the years where we hang our cabinet doors rather than laying them down and spraying one side at a time it's pretty cool it's f fast it's efficient it gets the job done and it allows us to do an average Kitchen in about a day and a half now you've probably seen in some of our past videos the system we utilize and in the very beginning we made a PVC pipe system and it was very flimsy wobbly and it did the wave like you know those things out at the car dealer lots that wave around it used to scare me every time we'd have heavy cabinet doors on there and we'd be spinning the doors and it'd be waving all over the place we used wooden hangers and we got these from our local hardware store and the system worked for quite a few years we painted cabinets made a lot of money but then we decided we decided to move up and upgrade and we made one out of what we made one out of galvanized pipe because I was a little tired of the swaying back and forth every time I tried to pull the trigger on the HBP and that was a bit more sturdy but really a pain to put together and and I just always worried about it damaging someone's floor or something like that because it was just kind of this unfinished product and we still utilized these wooden hangers and there was a couple times the wooden hangers I remember standing there watching you spray a door and the door was heavy and the hanger broke and what the heck happened to that door well I I had to fix a cabinet door we fixed it it's okay so we we just kept trying to you know continue to modify and perfect that system one of the things I didn't like about it is we just we would tape it all together and just toss it in the van and then we would toss it in storage and things were in bins and stuff and they were very hard to locate weren't they they were and not only that but you know we used that one Rack in order to spray the doors but then drying the doors we ended up kind of rigging together an extension ladder straddled on the top of two six foot ladders that then we would hang all of the doors to dry which convenient because you already have all of those things but it sure takes up a lot of space on the job site and then voila I was over in the UK and I ran into the the gentleman who developed this and it's called the psdr series and what does that stand for I don't uh painting series drying rack I think Pro Series drying rack Pro Series drying rack there we go good don't quote us don't quote us but I ran into him and he said he built this system and modeled it after what we had done in our videos and I was absolutely blown away and there's some things about this system now it's a must-have system you got to have it and we switched over to using this and one of the things is is the hangers John and why don't you talk about these two hangers yeah so obviously there's a big difference in these hangers but these wooden hangers like Chris said there was always some anxiety about if you've got a heavy door and oh this one's already cracking so that's really good heard if you had a heavy door and it's pulling down on these um there there is that danger that it's going to bust The Hanger you're going to drop a door and you may not get as lucky as I did that one time and be able to fix the door and not have any issues we'd even gone through and reinforced these hangers with tape to try to keep them so it was safe and secure but over time they were just getting beat up and bent up and honestly too they they didn't store very well so we had a bin full of these hangers and even if you tried to stack them all together it was overflowing it was messy clumsy and it just it didn't work we had a couple heavy doors that actually pulled the hook right out of the wood also and went cabang and smashed on the floor so as always it was that they rotated but you have to give up something by that thing rotating it was just in there in that little hole and eventually would pull out yeah really good for your pants not so much for a cabinet door these are thicker gauge um solid steel and welded together at the end so they don't move they don't stretch they don't spin but they fix that with some other features on the system yeah so this hanger itself one of the things and I was like oh my gosh it doesn't spin that's going to be a problem cuz we liked having them spin SP and we' spray them spinning in our hands but the tradeoff what we realize which is really cool these hangers they fit right on the drying rack which is right behind us and they won't rotate so you can take and slide your doors closer together and they won't slide and rotate these hangers right here you would put them on and they would kind of just find their own position where they would hang and so they rotate and you couldn't even get half as many doors on a rack that you could with these new hangers yeah and especially since we always had fans going inside the customer's house that means there's also air blowing on them and so they're spinning back and forth it was a major nightmare so one of the the ma the major things that's the actual um case that it goes in yeah and this is also super I I appreciate this because rather than having a big bin that not even all of the hangers fit into you can put 50 hangers in this case and they all just nest in on top of each other it's neat it's organized it it makes makes me happy on the inside just seeing things organized like that is just awesome and then if you can see they're orange so there's three bags the system comes there's a bag here there's a bag here and then a bag there and it all packs up into these three bags and this is one of the really cool things you can find it really easily cuz it's orange but these three bags you just pack them up into the house where you're going to set it up and this whole system sets up in less than 10 minutes you don't have to have any experience and no tools there's nothing that you got to have wrench to tighten with you don't need to tapee anything you don't need zip ties and we used to use all those things to set up our system didn't we yeah plus I just love rolling into a customer's home and it it just looks professional and put together like we've got a plan and we know what we're doing which we do and we we we do know what we're doing but this helps communicate that on the job site to the customer and heck even your team like I think it's kind of a morale boost yep so the system comes with this is the spraying system right here it comes right here this thing's got a cotter pin right there this thing spins and it comes with these dowels and these Dows are removable so you can place them anywhere you want you can spin and spray your door and if you want to see any of our videos where we do this system you can paint cabinets in a day and a half of average set of kitchen cabinets and a day and a half utilizing this system absolutely amazing fast simple and easy to do it comes with three drying racks so there's one drying rack right behind us right here and and it comes with two more you would think just because it's this like pin and whole system and it just kind of slides together that it's unsturdy this is actually a very very sturdy system far more sturdy than the PVC and the galvanized steel system that we had mocked up before so it breaks down easily it packages together so everything is is contained you know you're rolling up to the job site with all the parts and pieces and you know it's not going to be sliding anywhere and eventually the door doors itself like John said it it seems like it would be wobbly but you start putting doors in the system the weight down makes it even more sturdier as you get more and more doors on it it tears down just as fast as it puts together so when you're done at the job you just tear it down slip it in the bags and Away you go we do keep this thing um in our store because we like it so much contacted the company they allowed us to put it in our store to sell to you it's our store is you can go to the Idaho painter.com or go to store. the Idaho painter.com and you can find it in our store now one of the objections with using a system like this is well now you have to drill holes in the bottoms or tops of your customer's cabinets and how are you going to fill those holes doesn't that damage the cabinets um so that's a scary thing drilling holes in the cabinets so I do have a video we shot a video of the whole process of drilling holes in cabinets and why we do it and why we don't first off we do it because you can paint your cabinets three times faster by utilizing this system if you're just really uncomfortable drilling holes in these cabinets this company right here which is paint line and they have a website the paint line.com they do sell a drying rack system where you don't have to drill holes in your doors and you spray them down you flip them you put them on a drying rack dries the next day you come back flip it spray it and put it back on the drying rack it's called like a 50 drying rack it'll hold 50 doors you can find that on our website too and you can see a little bit about that yeah but this is a system we use day in day out whenever we're doing cabinets we think it's quick it's efficient it provides the customer with a great finish and it does it in a way that's going to help your company make money especially if you're transitioning from kind of a way where you're spraying them laying down and then you got to stack them up and this is going to save you so much more time in that first job it would invest the money you're going to thank us if you got any
