What happens here
After the screw test, the damaged wooden joint is removed from the test rig. A new, identical wooden joint, this time secured with nails, is carefully placed into the same position within the custom wooden test rig. The hydraulic pump is again operated to apply pressure, with the metal bracket transferring the force to the nailed joint. The pressure gauge is observed to record the force. The pumping continues until the nailed joint fails, either by the nails pulling out or the wood splitting, and the maximum observed force is approximately 4200 pounds (#).
Goal: Determine the maximum force a nail-secured wooden joint can withstand before failure
