What happens here

This project provides a detailed guide on how to install a stylish single sink vanity. The process includes demolition of the old vanity, preparing and tiling the bathroom floor and walls, fabricating a custom concrete countertop, constructing a wooden cabinet carcass and doors, and finally assembling and installing all components in the bathroom.

he has no idea welcome home here i got something for you yeah come on in oh my gosh oh wow unbelievable i like legit i'm like where are we right now that floor is sick oh my all right guys so today's project uh we did a video where we built a table and gave it away to a single mom if you haven't seen that video go check it out it was awesome we love the feeling that came with it so we want to give back more often and you guys know i'm very patriotic i mean courage and sweat we got the american flag in there i'm super thankful for the freedoms i have in this country and the sacrifices the men and women have given up for these kind of freedoms so we wanted to surprise a veteran with a bathroom makeover we found ally and jeremy a really nice sweet couple and we wanted to surprise him with now ali is already in on what i'm trying to pitch but jeremy i know he's not going to let me do this so ali and i are applauding to do this without him knowing i'm going to give her a call and see how we can figure this out [Music] hello hey allie hey hey it's alex how you doing i'm good how are you good good good hey remember what you and i were sickly plotting about surprising jeremy with a bathroom makeover that we both know that he's too stubborn to let me do yeah okay so hey i know you guys are going to be leaving here town in a little bit to stay with family for a couple of weeks and i was wondering if this could be a perfect opportunity for me to get into your house and do that what do you think oh oh my gosh yes okay awesome awesome awesome so i'm gonna get my stuff figured out just send me over the garage code i promise to leave your house in a better shape that i found it and this is going to be fun oh my gosh i'm so excited awesome thanks sally talk to you soon oh let's do this all right we're here at the house of ali and jeremy's uh they're not home right now we're gonna use the code for the garage door that ali gave me and see what we're working with so come on but first let's talk about the sponsors today's video bespoke so bespoke is a cross category monthly box subscription service it introduces new products to their members that range from bar wear to outdoor gear to clothing kitchen goods there's so much cool stuff you simply fill out a quiz and it matches you to the box that works well with you this is the box that came based off of my recommendations that the quiz that i filled out and let's take a look what's inside we have a military grade marching compass here this is solid strong due north fire starter the magnesium zinc and copper we have a knife outdoor knife this is perfect stainless steel made in sweden oh i almost snaked myself a tri-fold camping shovel i love this my car already has one i got to get one for my wife's car i got stuck in snow way too many times boom look at that serrated edge here so this is an origami solar powered lantern okay that's too cool every box has at least a 70 retail value but it's only gonna cost you 45 bucks and the cool thing about is if you don't like the boxes you get you can swap out the box for another box and that's another cool part they're constantly putting out new boxes so you're not going to run out of things to select and get so you like to receive gifts like we all do or even get ideas of things to give to other people bespoke is the perfect solution for you and you know what get comfortable with people asking you hey that's really cool where'd you get that well now you have a secret supplier so be sure to use the link in the description below and use my promo code build it to get 20 off your first order today now without wasting any more time let's get back to the video let's go all right so we have our classic 90s early 90s home setup we have a reflecting glass kind of lamp out there we have these classic cabinets that my mom and dad still had when i was a kid oh that's loud for mike and counter tops and the classic phone booth tile fitted shower there's a lot we want to do here especially with the floors we want to rip that out do some nice cool tile i want to give it some shiplap around some wainscoting here we're going to do like a farmhousey kind of feel here we'll definitely have to build a brand new cabinet to really match the new aesthetic let's do what we do the best let's demo let's go [Music] clean up an l3 i get a guitar [Music] i don't know if that's dry blood maybe somebody got murdered here you gotta reference in order pattern not to sway reference one corner you do like a i don't know a three by three chunk first and then fill it in as opposed to one piece at a time so the trick with cutting these radiuses is making small gradual passes these little scorching marks just to alleviate the pressure so that crack doesn't go toward the big part of the tile but goes on the end today is ship lab day we got our miter saw set up today is gonna be a very beautifying kind of day um thank you sir yes sir by the way this is tyler tyler say hi to the group nice to meet you guys you told me you're you're a contractor oh free shirt free shirt uh tyler's here to uh we coming tyler is here to make sure that we put out more content more projects for you guys and with these ship laps you want to get it right in this groove part that's the way it's one less thing to putty and sand later down the road all right we're gonna go to auto mode here and put this puppy up check back with you guys in a little bit that came out really nice it almost like opens up this room makes it look bigger and taller [Music] we're using the yuca board here which is foreign to me all tyler's idea tyler what do you have in mind for this dude we'll start with our baseboard we'll get our styles laid out and then we'll go ahead and do our top rail and then we'll cap it and now we're going to get ready to prime the yuca board made mistakes before in vanities when it comes to countertops not bringing concrete today [Music] here we go okay so we have to prepare our mold box there's a couple of steps to it step one we're gonna take some acetone clean up and degrease basically anything inside of it step two we're gonna take any kind of wax really this is just a car wax and put a light coat all the way around and the reason that's gonna be for it is for step three when we take our silicone 100 silicone and we line all the edges beveling them with a caulking tool and like that and then obviously after it's pressed in the wax is going to allow for us to help take the outer edges that are smeared off to create a nice clean beveled edge mold so the concrete doesn't cut our fingers okay so while this is drying i marked out my holes because we need to create these little barricades or separation so the concrete doesn't go [Music] oh there's a little trick i've kind of learned some of my maker buddies um it kind of helps it kind of not get dehydrated while it's curing first things first we need to do our cuts i made my little sketch here for carcass the plans will be available be patient let's start cutting [Music] first of all it's going to be very different cabinet build bourbon moth go check them out i just started watching this stuff one of the parts below i need to make a rabbit cut it's like an incision and i heat it with a regular saw blade i'm going to get a dado stack [Music] this is that little rabbit cut that we're putting on here concealing the end grain i'm excited about this i'm already liking this method [Music] all i got to do i got my quarter inch uh cut out here i'm going to put the quarter inch plywood inserted in place it's going to fit like a glove that'll secure the carcass of the cabinet and we'll get started working on the pacemaker it's important that when you're doing face frames that you clamp down this joint that you'll be pressing [Music] together [Music] all right so today we're making the doors we're going to use this on a router why because i found it to be the cleanest most professional way these come out [Music] get your grooves done on the center panel you're going to create a 30 degree bevel cut along the face frame of it running it along the side of your fence you can glue the styles and rails together but do not put any wood glue in the middle channel that way this could be the floating center raised panel [Music] tyler do you mind getting us caught up on some sanding so we could stain and get installed tomorrow yep i'll get it cleaned up for you my man i love this team stain time rustic beige is the color never used it it's a semi-transparent which is good meaning it shouldn't go on too thick all right it's been uh four days and already one of the best looking edges i've ever done oh i'm gonna try to flip the sucker over without damaging any edges because the face frame obviously has a recessed part here you have to create a spacer fortunately when i do my calculations it's a three-quarter inch spacer that goes right over there and then our half inch slide can go there and at that point it could clear anything we need to clear boom boom boom [Music] what do you think so ugly why are you gonna do that what are you gonna do in front of the people it looks way better on camera so mean what do you think of the green hints of green i like that uh today's assembly day it's gonna be a crazy day we got toilets we got vanities we got lights we got hangers we got electrical stuff we have so much stuff not to mention cleaning [Music] so before we do the big reveal the price breakdown for this bathroom was 200 spent on shiplap 100 was spent on lights and hardware 200 was sink and plumbing 150 was spent on tile 190 on the vanity 70 bucks for the countertop a hundred dollars for the board and baton walls sixty dollars for the paint and primer making a grand total of one thousand seventy dollars now you can also add another 1027 bucks that we spent on the shower if you haven't seen that video go check it out that makes it about 2100 for the entire basement bathroom if you want to take it on yourself now i think they're almost here so let's go meet him [Music] he has no idea welcome home here i got some for you yeah come on in [Music] all right i'm gonna let you i'm gonna let you open and see what's in there [Music] oh my gosh [Music] wow [Music] oh my gosh man it's not the same bathroom this is a little different huh what what was it what is this for uh listen man i i i you know i'm a i want to surprise i'm better than just thank people who kind of protect the freedoms in this country but what we did here we got some hexagon thailand here um we got a custom-built vanity that i built myself made out of poplar here i know your kids need some organizational storage so i'll just pull out they can put their hair dryers and whatnot uh we got our concrete countertop little farmhouse sink some shiplap because who doesn't need shiplap a little board and bat in here um yeah and i hope you recognize your shower um made it as nice as we could um yeah what do you think what she'll do oh my gosh thank you so much all right i'm like crying man awesome this is so cool unbelievable i like legit i'm like where are we right now that floor [Music] [Applause] completely different this is so cool i take it this is tyler right here yes dang gosh countertop oh my gosh so do you make that yeah i made that made all of this everything is handcrafted except tile and obviously did you make the toilet too tell me about your time in the military um well it was fun um i did almost eight years in the marine corps uh made it to the rank of sergeant and uh was a machine gunner for most of it and then i was an instructor for a little while as well did a deployment to iraq in afghanistan and uh had some fun times i don't remember the exact date but we were out on patrol walking around kind of in an open area and out of nowhere we just started taking fire and at that point in time you know it it becomes real because those aren't paintballs coming at you those are real bullets and uh you kind of you get into this mode where it's it's fight or flight and for me the whole time it was fight because they're not going to take me home you know in a body bag um and after that it got surreal and things kind of switched around but it uh it definitely puts you in a different place and different mindsets so i heard that you weren't even stateside here when you guys bought your house and had a family what was that like it makes things very difficult because you're relying on your wife to do everything and take care of the family and take care of the house when you almost feel hopeless at the time even though you know you're providing for your family it's it's very difficult and sometimes they don't understand why you're away well hey man thank you for your service thank you you guys can have your house back enjoy your bathroom and hope you guys enjoy it all thank you guys thank you
