EMPTY HOUSE TOUR || Concrete Slab House Reno (Ep.1)

come on in welcome to our new [Music] so you guys kept saying what do we do when we run out of projects well this is it we got ourselves a new project to work on so this is the entry of this house um what do we have to plan for this space um i don't know what i think one of the first things is to knock down these pillars um open the plate space up a little bit more um i know that right here there's a closet behind it so i might just push this out a little bit and create a little mud room section yeah we wanted to make it look a little bit more grand and that this space is like its own thing separate from this space you can see the walls are beige yellowish beige um that's the first thing to go so we're gonna do nice bright white walls now walking into here this is the official i believe the living room which is kind of weird because nobody really uses these kind of rooms and because how grand it already feels with a centered fireplace that's right in the middle and the big windows and stuff i thought would be really cool is if and this is weird right because you don't really do this but we actually put a dividing wall up here to create its own little like rec room yeah so we're gonna close this all up so this will be all closed we're gonna do these big huge barn doors big huge ones probably around that like nine foot or something like that maybe eight nine feet they will move out to the to the side it'll still be welcoming they'll be double uh the size and at the same time you can close and you'll have an official bonus room we said bonus room together that's cute [Laughter] we're so cute so now one of the things that i've always wanted and asked arena that if we found a house with like a basement i've always wanted to create this nice cool lounge feel and though this house is not or does not have a basement in fact it's on a concrete slab uh this would have been a perfect opportunity to turn this into that like a lounge area so what i always want to do is we're going to put a pool table down here we're going to have a nice big sectional facing this wall with a nice big family tv time you know movie theater kind of feel um nice board and bat batting all around and uh what do you want to do with this fireplace yeah so we're gonna demolish this obviously um make this ball obviously i will um make this all a huge concrete um what is it like back or this whole entire thing will be concrete we'll do a cool nice earthy looking um beam across it and yeah it will be a different definitely different kind of vibe and of course as you see there's a window i hate these windows that go from one room to another but the nice thing is what we're gonna do is we're gonna fill this in and because i'm gonna have to tear some of the drywall apart i'm gonna have to actually use a perfect opportunity to put insulation inside of it that's like more noise canceling so stepping right back into this house is the kitchen she has more of a vision for this kitchen than i do so we're gonna take this peninsula out kind of like we did in our old house um it just it creates too much of like a divide and i love the open concept feel so we're gonna take this out um and then create a long island going this way hoping for it to stop exactly where i'm at here yep and it'll all be one level we might even create a little breakfast bar area where it's we can have chairs on both sides coming this way and that way and then we our plan is to continue the cabinets up instead of the microwave do a big hood coming down paint the cabinets new granite um obviously we're gonna change the flooring everywhere you can still yeah this tile has continued on throughout kitchen and dining area so we'll be changing that so here's the thing i'm more intimidated about this kitchen and the reason why is when it comes to taking a peninsula off and extending the island and moving the sink to over here these things are pretty easy to do if you have a crawl space guess what we don't have crawl space so this is all sitting on a concrete slab they're between six and eight inches some depending where you're at and so once this is all demoed i'm gonna have to come out here with a concrete saw cut channel move everything over and the nice thing about these cabinets is as opposed to our last house these are not oak cabinets so they're actually a nice paint they're stained um maple so we're gonna give it a nice clean paint job they're gonna look solid strong durable paint that's not gonna come off with water as some of the poor cheaper options are as far as these cabinets like she said we're gonna send them all the way to the top that should be pretty easy she wants a big grand hood and i've never built one so that'll be kind of fun to do yeah this only has the cooktop and then these are cabinets and i think we'll just put in an actual range in here and get rid of this double oven situation because as you can see it opens right in front of the pantry which alex doesn't think is um that big of a deal but it is to me the nice thing is the alternative option to this having an empty space is i was thinking about moving the microwave over here and at the same time putting in like a built-in wine fridge that'd be kind of cool like a practical thing yeah i'm game for that and then this is the pantry honestly don't have a ton of ideas for that yet but it's coming i do have one thing that i want in a pantry every time there's a walk-in pantry i love how they'll be like a granite countertop and the outlets so all of your coffee makers all of your mixers blenders already staining plugged in ready to go so we'd have to basically create a space for it and possibly convert the lower section into maybe a nice better organization the bathroom this is the powder room i don't know how i feel about it being next to the kitchen i know it is kind of thinking about it what's cool is actually that there's this radius wall here and when you walk in obviously on the inside of the bathroom the radius wall continues and i actually want to create a play with it like i want to have maybe drop lights coming down like this really kind of artistic-y kind of feel for in the bathroom in the bathroom here yeah he's just telling me now so i can't say no because we're on camera um i was thinking something moody in this bathroom for sure something different because it's only a powder i have some ideas but yeah darker colors wood tones get rid of this vessel style sink possibly have it a floating sink or a nice narrow cabinet definitely have a grand backsplash i've always also wanted to do a pink backsplash like a herringbone style hmm we can do that in an old house maybe we'll do it here we'll see this is uh this is where the business part of the thing happens this is our office and uh it feels like a little bit smaller office than our previous office as you can see the carpet is in immaculate condition we don't even need to do anything here's beautiful i don't understand why this part is lighter and this is so small they had furniture on that so it never got dark so they had this is the part oh this is highly traffic cool they worked in a coal mine that's where that all came from so this is the closet on the back side of the entryway it's got this cool double entry we'll do something fun with it something cool this is a closet that we can push back and possibly create the mud room a lot of ideas here but we definitely need more lighting that's for sure yes and i was actually thinking what if you close this because we don't i mean i don't love having the it right off the entry what if we just didn't have a door here or only here then we can make this into a corner where we can actually functionally use it that's an option for more space folks folks a quick tour right this way right behind us you will see the entrance to the garage i won't show you this part there'll be a big reveal for that what we do have here is a nice little mud room yeah i like that it's already you can kind of see what we can do with it or it's already got something although it's got some cracking crackage and then this doesn't have a door which i thought was a little interesting don't know kyle you're ruining the audio kyle kyle tooted so we'll put a little closet door here possibly store a lot of the kids winter stuff and all that you know miscellaneous stuff yeah i was thinking we could do like lockers kind of like you did in the in the garage in our last house we need more lockers we know how to build them that way it's closed because you know our kids they throw stuff everywhere the dining room what do you have planned for the dining room um well he already said no to a lot of my ideas she had a lot of unrealistic ideas um well we initially were like what if we had like a door here or like a giant a bigger window didn't you say that a door he said it you said it um but if we don't do that obviously new chandelier we're gonna have new flooring don't know how i feel about these i don't know about how i feel about it either and i don't know what to do with them because if you take them out it's just going to be empty space we can just put a like fill it in oh we're filling in walls and doors here the other option is take these out and do like wood shelving all the way down like natural wood shelves and then it will look not as just we're going to sleep on it we're going to see what kind of inspiration comes up obviously all right coming into the family room over here i like these kind of setups where you walk into the front door and the lounging area and the kitchen stuff happens in the back of the house that way you're not front door your neighbors aren't looking at you you kind of have a little transition almost like a wing you don't see i mean nobody sees you lounging in your underwear on the couch basically because that's how we watch netflix yeah netflix and chill she's still hate corner fireplaces yeah a real fireplace with a chimney knowledge she's like can we just scooch it right here or this way this is what i said unrealistic expectations i just they're really awkward to me and i don't know i've looked and pinterested all the fireplace things corner fireplaces nothing looks seamless like i love built-ins and so you can't really do that with a corner fireplace yeah okay hey you're ruining the video you're ruining the video but it's okay don't love these windows along this um wall yeah what do you think we could do with this we can fill it in and do like a built-in situation here maybe yeah i did have a thought about our kids drool over the wall as you can see so we are probably one of the thoughts i had here wait he just brushed over this you didn't even say we're gonna fill it in folks it's just gonna get filled in it's gonna be a built-in stitch button stitch i did though have an idea of what if instead of that built-in fill in this window and it's more centered have a built-in console and then leave these windows there for extra light or make these windows bigger i should just blow up this house and just start fresh it's all his fault he wanted this house um then here we kind of had a fun um she doesn't like my feel yeah she doesn't like the fame um we have one door here and we were thinking of making this whole wall all like sliding doors where you can open all of them in the summer time if you wanted to an idea sounds like a very expensive budget the breakfast bar has to go but i think because it's going to get filled in we're going to do this like uh i don't know like uh it's like a modern day built-in hutch right so maybe have floating shelves nice long ones that's where the dishes because it's adjacent to the dining room here um the cabinets will still be there but not these angled stuff give it more of a modern countertop i do love the storage space in here because there is a lot of stuff that i store that's only for hosting dining purposes and so that will be awesome all right that concludes this side of the house let's check out the other side of the house all right coming into the first set of the bedrooms is the master bedroom coming in with french doors that we're gonna have to mess with anymore vaulted ceiling we love the size with an actual centered line too yeah we'll do beams here for sure because it's already centered really pretty um what is this called steeple yeah steeple style whatever um some beams would look really cool here either going this way and maybe one across obviously the bed's gonna be here i'm gonna do a nice built-in over there for like a tv in the bedroom i've always wanted i mentioned to you that like a bed at the end of it i've always wanted a couch to kind of sit and watch that'd be kind of nice yeah there's definitely room for it i mean like even here and there we i mean there's lots of potential with this bedroom coming out here we have an entrance to the backyard which we'll show you guys a little bit later but it's kind of nice that you can go from the master bedroom to the patio and soak the hot tub if you want all right so coming into the bathroom what are you thinking for the bathroom it has a corner tub big soaker tub which is awesome um some jets in there they left us a little gift too so um but don't love this whole situation how it has a step it just creates less space so we're gonna take that out keep the corner tub but it'll probably be freestanding so a nice vessel stand up tub yeah it'll be nice it'll be really cute um here obviously we're going to keep the backsplash because we're loving the tones the tones the tuscan vintage tones a lot of my you might say like hey you guys have like premium features what are you doing the house is it's a little bit dated it's a 2005 which is not super old but the original owners that were here they were older couple this might be nice for this this is still the original yeah from 2005. we want to give it this more of a younger feel cleaner look more pinterest-y if you will because that's a real word paint the cabinets new countertops nice sinks nice faucets cool backsplash separate mirrors yeah just a refresh something you know us to make it us just make it out i don't know about tile yet but something fun with the tile there's a closet in here which is awesome for space not super deep um love that there's a toilet what is it called a water closet a water closet never had one kind of nice i love it shower sit the sitch in the shower is interesting it's a huge shower it's a little creepy it's a little creepy like i'm not claustrophobic but look at this like tile around you like step into this cave yeah like i don't know like i don't want the amber lighting okay he's gone i love it it also smells like moisture in there oh gross i love how tall it is though because he's tall our last shower like when he would shower i could see or i could see his eyes what's cool is it's a double shower and it's a steam room so it's got that in there i don't have a vision of how to redo this i definitely want it more open with a full glass see-through door um this is going to be one of the biggest challenges second to the kitchen come on into our master closet we actually have a walk-in closet now how's that like we can both stand in our closet remember you need a nap huh yeah thanks for being in our video um we're going to spruce this up keep the cabinets but we're going to make it really kind of elegant in here figure out how to position and arrange everything that you know it kind of functions exactly the way you want it to also in a way where i have more space oh and i'm still going to have my corner yeah that would be nice thank you right this is the laundry room this is what she's wanted for a long time an actual bigger laundry room like where it has space for countertop space i don't know if you guys have seen our last stream dark cold small what's another adjective uh grungy dungeness love that as a window more like create that light where i can actually enjoy doing laundry because i really enjoy it this is the first kid bedroom i don't know which kid is gonna get this one but i really like the fact that they've trimmed this out really kind of cool and grand it already has a built-in little desk here and stuff like that um we're gonna see what we're gonna do with it it feels like a shameful to tear it all out but um i think we'll make it like a cool kid's you know school desk and stuff like that and the last bedroom is i think this might be the boys or maybe even her bedroom so it has a little kid's closet already a little seating little bench i might extend this out to actually be a little reading nook just play with it just because you already have a little bit of an edge definitely a dated bathroom here you got the built-in fitted tub that has to go because you know how we do we're going to make a grand spruce this up there's so much sprucing but the cool thing is everything has plenty of light that's the nice thing lots of light [Music] coming out the last part of the house that we want to show you guys is the patio which is cool because it's inset kind of in the middle of the the the two wings of the house it's got this grand feel right in the back i do want to hang like a tv there this roof extends only halfway i want to push it out that's going to be another tricky thing is i don't know roofs and i'm going to talk to like a structural engineer and stuff like that to extend that roof put some lights in it put like a fan in there and just kind of have a nice cool hangout spot what do you think for a hangout spot yeah we can either do a big diamond house table with chairs or do more of a loungy style coffee table sectional yeah yeah uh i do also want to build a little grilling station nothing too grand but i also i kind of want something with a pellet grill and maybe like a flat skirt iron thing uh flat skirt iron that's not a thing just a just a thing to flip pancakes on i don't know well that's it thank you for joining us on our house tour yep we
