What happens here

With the spray booth, furniture, and equipment prepared, begin applying the first coat of finish. Ensure you are wearing your respirator, safety glasses, and gloves. Hold the HVLP spray gun perpendicular to the surface of the wooden table, typically about 6-8 inches away. Maintain a consistent distance and angle throughout the application. Begin spraying off the edge of the furniture, then move the gun across the surface in smooth, overlapping passes. Each pass should overlap the previous one by about 50% to ensure even coverage and prevent streaks or dry spots. The video demonstrates the application of the finish to the top surface of a mid-century modern style table, showing the operator making even, sweeping motions from one side to the other, ensuring complete coverage. Avoid tilting the gun, which can lead to uneven application, and always start and stop the trigger off the workpiece to prevent excess build-up or sputtering at the edges. Apply thin, even coats to prevent drips, runs, or sags, especially on vertical surfaces. For complex shapes or legs, adjust your spraying technique as needed to cover all areas without over-applying.
