(14,035 characters)All right, you guys. Today, we're going to be doing stuff to the new Honda UTV that no other content creator is doing. And I know this because I had to ask special permission to do this. And I was expecting them to just flat turn me down, but they said, "Yes." And I looked around as I was doing it. I'm thinking, well, is anybody else going to do this? Nope. So, I'm taking you guys along for a ride, and we're going to put these things through its paces. So, let's dive into today's video. Stop before you buy your next Honda UTV. Make sure you watch this video. The changes that Honda has made to the 2026 model makes everything that they've made before this look and feel archaic. And that's going to probably piss off some people that have bought a 2025 or older model. But this video is worth watching because the changes they've made are absolutely insane. All right, guys. This is the new unit, and it's set up a little bit different. We're going to go into some of these options than my older unit. We've got a mode for automatic transmission or manual transmission right here. But, here's where it gets interesting. We've got a speed limiter right here. And you're going to say, "Why would you want a speed limiter?" That's the first thing any red-blooded American male would say. >> you're going to explain cruise control and why it's important. Is that right? >> Well, we're going to do the speed limiter. >> Okay, speed limiter. Okay, so it's got a number of functions now. >> Yep. Yep. So, the throttle by wire really allows us to add a lot of different features into it. So, the speed limiter really key for people who are doing work, farm work, um you know, your spraying, spreading, mowing, any of that where you need to, you know, concentrate on your line, make sure everything's going okay back there, and not have enough throttle kind of bounce around as you have some uneven terrain. >> And have that have a consistent application rate as well. Because if your throttle goes up or down, your application rate's going to be affected as well. >> Huge. Yep, exactly. >> So, the speed limiter or cruise control is not what I would consider to be the revolutionary change, but he does allude to it, and it's called throttle by wire. And the throttle by wire allows this to actually function even better. And then we'll get to throttle by wire in a second, you guys. >> So, you hit the speed limit button right there. You see the little icon comes on on the dash. >> Yeah. >> From there, you hit the set. And you'll see it comes right up as 3 mph right away. >> Okay. >> So, in low, you can go down to three. In high, you can go minimum is six. And you can go all the way up to 25 mph. So, once you're all set and going, you see where it's going to get started. And um as soon as I take off, I can have the the throttle all the way to the floor, and it's going to regulate at that miles per hour. >> Perfect. Okay, so now tell me about the the other features on this thing as we're going around the corner. >> Yeah, so I mean, part of it you can also do cruise control by setting that. Much of the similar setup. Now, cruise control is from 25 mph and up. >> So, is it like cruise control in a car? >> Yeah, so once you once you get there, you just hit cruise control. >> Yep. >> Then you can monitor your speed there and you just you just like in a vehicle. >> Yeah, then you don't you can let off the throttle. Just kind of making sure you're aware of your surroundings, but you're going to keep that consistent speed. Long fire roads, you're going from piece of property to property, that's huge. Cuz I mean, you're not sitting there constantly saying "Hey, it's a little bit uneven." So, good benefit. >> And then the the speed limiter also works for younger younger or beginner people, right? >> Yeah, I mean, if you're concerned about, you know, kind of you got someone who's maybe newer with a side-by-side, you're showing them some ropes, it's good to kind of okay, here you just do it. So, >> Or if you give it out loan it out to your crew and you don't want them tearing up your UTV. >> Yeah, that's where the speed key comes in. So, basically, you can you can put a key under the dash and lock it and the speed is then limited to 25 mph total on the vehicle. So, if you're concerned about, you know, like you're you're giving it out to your work crew and you don't want them to basically, you know, be going too fast on any roads, you can set it to where it's 25 tops. Perfect. >> And is that all of the three features then all wrapped up in one? >> Yep, yep, exactly. All tied into the the changes that we made with the throttle by wire this year. >> Okay, perfect. Good to know. All right, so Colin alluded to it. It's called throttle by wire. Honda has eliminated the throttle cable completely in the 2026 models and they've updated them to something a lot more modernistic. But instead of talking about it, let's demonstrate it first. Then let's get the breakdown on exactly what this new technology is and how it impacts the machines. >> All right, the hill we came down we're going up. Get it. Boy, these things are peppy. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. What? Sorry, they're in like talking on the radio. Um when we do the 25-year model comparison >> Yeah. >> Yeah. >> it's like astonishing how different it is with the throttle by wire. Like we tested it and we're like, "Do we want to show like a previous year?" We weren't so sure. Is it going to be a big difference? And it really is. It's crazy. >> I mean, just this year, this model from the one that I've got from last year, >> Yeah. night and day difference. Not even freaking close. Okay, so Colin's going to explain throttle by wire cuz this is brand new this year and this is like the thing that's made them a performance such an amazing difference. Is that right? >> Yeah, huge difference. >> Okay, so explain it to me. What are you telling me? >> Yeah, so traditional throttle, the cable from the accelerator basically goes all the way back to the throttle body and there's a butterfly there. So that then is opening the butterfly. When you step on the throttle, the butterfly opens and lets air through. Right? Where the throttle by wire is basically like there's an electronic portion in between. So you step on the throttle, but there's not actually a cable going directly to the throttle. There's an electronic opener on this. So it detects what you're doing on the throttle and then there's a motor kind of on the actual throttle body itself. So instead of like you know when you're stepping on it and it kind of smooths it out, so that the system recognizes that okay, your your foot's kind of moving cuz you're going down the trail and it's bouncing a little bit. Well, the system can recognize that and smooth out that throttle. So that was that filtering that we were talking about. >> Oh jeez. >> Yep. >> So it that's brand new this year and only in the 2026 and moving forward? Has Honda used it on anything else yet? >> Um we have it on a lot of motorcycles as well and I mean a a pretty much I think almost all the cars are that way these days too. So yeah. Kind of factor in being able to add extra tuning in. That's why the takeoff is so much smoother. We're able to kind of tie that in as well. So it kind of ties into a lot of different aspects. >> Bradley, what's this course? >> This little area is our 25 26 comparison demo course. >> Ah. >> Yeah, yeah. >> So last year's with this year's? >> Yes, exactly. Yes, so got a cool little course set up. Work your way through some of the trees and there's a little berm over there. So you can come on the backside, you can just about see Uh, other group out there. Kind of cuts through some really tight stuff around some trees. It's a little bit more rocky and rough. Uh, so you really start to notice the difference with the throttle application, the smoothness of the throttle. So you start bouncing on the thing and comparing the 25 and the 26. It's really cool because we set up the course kind of for that. So you kind of experience that throttle by wire smoothness. But the reality is just having a 25 unit here. You know, with the previous generation you really start to notice all those other refinements. For the 26, I mean little things like having the foot stand, right? Without the roof off and the seat super hot, you're feeling a little bit more heat from the seat, you know? With without all the insulation and heat tape that's been added to this 26. You see the display, right? So the fixed display, it's a little bit smaller. So you start to notice, "Oh yeah, that's the benefit of having display down in on the steering column and and having it be a little bit bigger." So there's all these little things that you're noticing as well as you get in and out of the previous generation and the new unit. So >> Very cool way to experience it. >> All right. >> All right, so I think now you want to follow me and see if you can keep up. Is that right? >> Yeah, no. >> So much smoother. Holy cow. Wow. Instantly you can feel the difference. Instantly. The difference in performance is insane, you guys. Insane. >> The difference in performance is The difference in performance is night and day. There's zero comparison. Oh, yeah. That's a night and day difference. >> Isn't that cool it gets to do the back to back? >> Oh my god. When you do the back to back you can you can feel it. So, I mean it's like right there. Unreal that how that throttle by wire affected performance. So, even though it has a switch to go from manual transmission to automatic transmission, you are in automatic and you want to downshift or upshift, you just hit the paddles and it does what it what you want. So, it does that switch doesn't even have to technically be used to transfer between uh manual and automatic. Now I'm in first, second, third, fourth, So, and now it automatically just goes back into automatic mode. >> Sure. >> All right, guys. While I got Colin here, cuz Colin, you pretty much you know these things inside and out. >> Yeah, fair enough. >> So, explain to me if I'm understanding this correctly. It has a manual and an automatic transmission, but when you're in automatic, >> Mhm. >> you can you can pick whatever gear you want. You just hit the paddle shifters and she'll shift up, she'll shift down, and then when you get out of that situation, it goes back into automatic, I've noticed. >> Correct, yeah. >> So, it's like the best of both worlds. You're not really stuck in one mode or another. >> Yeah, so if you're like you're in automatic mode, right? You're coming up on a hill and you start to go up it and you're like, I just need to drop one gear to get a little more power. You can hit the downshift, you know, get up to the top of the hill and kind of once you mellow it out at the top, it reverts back and just keeps shifting as it would normally. >> Yeah, it did it all for me. So, it would do that upshifting or downshifting anywhere I wanted. So, it was like it was just I was like I could go into manual and just completely manually control the entire thing. >> Yep. >> Or I could just let go into automatic and let it do the entire thing by itself, but I realized that I didn't like some of the sounds I was hearing while I was driving. >> Sure. >> So, I just started playing with it and I'm like, holy crap. >> Yeah, I mean, we off we have the manual mode. Like you can put it in the manual and take full control, but most people just leave it in automatic and then kind of a control as they go. >> Right, that's the biggest part of it. >> new, too? >> No, we've had that for a number of years. So, that has really come in with the DCT system for quite a a time. >> Okay. Okay. >> But it just gets the system gets more refined every year as we go along. >> I've just never noticed it operate so flawlessly. >> Okay. All right. >> Yeah, I know. It's that's a huge factor. I mean, I love using it just because you don't have to then put it back into manual or automatic, right? You just you can tap it I downshift or upshift, either way. >> Yep. Yep. After a full day of riding and the the Honda guys were nice enough to let me do stuff that nobody else on this trip actually got to do, test out different parts of the course. I will tell you that the changes that Honda has made to these UTVs is a night and day difference in the feel, in the responsiveness, throttle engagement, control, smooth acceleration, the ability uh to handle around corners. All of these things combined just make for a ride unlike what Honda has generated yet in any of their equipment. So, when I say to you, "Stop and watch this video before you buy your next Honda." If you own an older Honda, you're going to be pissed because it is just from one year to the next. This has not been uh a gradual change. This was an abrupt stop, course correction, and look what we've done now kind of a change. And it works. It really does work for Honda. The this equipment is uh bar none the best that Honda has yet produced. Question for you guys. I filmed a lot of this in first-person perspective to hopefully let you guys kind of feel like what it was like and listen to the engine at the same time. What did you think of that? Did you enjoy kind of getting into that seat alongside of me and just hammering it down and feeling what this machine could do? Let me know if you did in the comments down below. But, that's it for this one. God bless you guys and go get them. We'll catch you guys on another one.
