Spreading Biomass on the Land! Permaculture for a better soil!

What happens here

The presenter, Josh, from Stoney Ridge Farmer, introduces the project of managing approximately 90 bales of free hay. He explains that some of the hay is old and unusable, which will be spread in areas on the farm experiencing erosion to rehab the land. The good hay will be stacked for sale on Craigslist and used to feed their goats. He explains that round hay bales, similar to thatched roofs, allow water to cascade off, preventing spoilage, even if they were baled the previous July. He plans to sell good bales for $30 each, with a discount to $25 per bale for purchases of five or more.

Goal: Understand the purpose of hay management and assess hay quality for different uses.

so guys if you watch yesterday's Farm vog someone gave us probably 90 bales of free hay some of it was old and unusable we're going to put that in spots on the farm that are washing really badly places we want to rehab the land and we're going to take some of it we're going to stack it up we're going to put it on Craigslist for sale and we're going to feed our goats with it we don't need all these bales of hay so we're going to try and sell it on Craigslist but today I'm just going to stack it up on the edge of the field get it ready get it looking good something you need to know about round hay bales if you think about it back in the day they used to build houses with thatch roofs okay a round hay bale it's just like a thatched roof if it rains on the hay bale it doesn't ruin the hay okay it it allows the water to Cascade down off of the uh hay bale if it rains on a round bail it's just fine these Bales were bailed last last July so they're totally good and hopefully we make a little bit of money on these things around here around Bale like that is kind of cow hay or goat hay it's not really premium hay probably goes for 30 bucks 25 bucks something like that so we'll put them on Craigslist for 30 bucks a bail and if you buy more than five Bales we'll sell them for 25 bucks pretty good money-making now let's get country on the tractor all right woo guys what
