Spraying Ceilings with an Airless sprayer. Painting Ceilings.

What happens here

The video begins by introducing the project: spraying ceilings in a house that has crown molding, changing from a dark to a light color. The presenter showcases the equipment, including a Graco 695 airless paint sprayer, a spray gun with a 517 tip, and a 2-foot extension for comfortable reach. He explains that two coats will be necessary: a light "fog coat" for initial coverage that dries quickly, followed by a second, heavier coat. The masking process is detailed, using 9-inch paper and 1-inch 2020 3M tape along the crown molding. The presenter mentions that wall painting will occur next, so overspray on walls is not a concern, and old carpets are being replaced, eliminating the need for drop cloths on the floor. He also highlights turning down the sprayer pressure to minimize overspray or dripping wet paint.

Goal: Prepare the room and equipment for ceiling spraying.

This is Chris from B&J Painting. In this video, we're going to show you how to spray ceilings. We've got some ceilings in the house right here that um has got crown molding on the house. And so, we're going to be spraying the ceilings with a Graco 695. I've got a gun with a 515 uh 517 tip on it and an extension that's approximately 2 ft long. And we're using an extension that I can reach um comfortably about a foot from the ceiling. And the ceilings are a dark color and we're actually going to a light color. So, we're going to have to definitely spray two coats on the ceilings. We're going to be spraying one coat this way and what we call a fog coat. It's going to be a light coat. We're not trying to get it all covered 100%, but just getting a a light coat on it that actually dried quickly so we can go back over and do a second coat. And so we've masked the ceiling with uh 9 in uh 2020 1 in tape and u uh 1 in 2020 3M tape. And then we've massed with 9 in paper. The walls are going to be painted next, but we're spraying the ceilings first. So we're not concerned about fallout, anything coming onto the ceiling itself. And um I've got my pressure turned down fairly low so we don't have to worry about overspray um any wet paint falling down onto the floor. The carpets are going to be replaced. So, we don't have to worry about the carpet. So, you're not going to see any drop loss down. So,
